On my mother's side I have German, Swedish, Russian, and quite a bit of Britain roots. As her/our surname is English (As well as what she's told me, I have my father's surname, but I use my mom's online and such)There are more, but they don't "count" as much.

On my father's, there's a great amount of Swedish and something else. I forgot what else. But a high amount of Swedish ancestry. Like, my great grandmother was pure Swedish. (My great maternal grandfather was also German, he's still alive, but it's hard to talk to him as you can imagine. I have no clue more then that though.)

I know nothing of my ancestry on my mothers side. My fathers side is another story.

My grandfathers family were some of the original cajuns. After coming down here, the family got their name (and genes) everywhere. More or less everything in the town (and the city, Lake Charles) is named after my kin.

Lots of drinking and facial hair from those folk.

My great-grandmother (I believe) came over on a boat from Czechoslovakia. She grew up in Nebraska, and had a metric ton of children. Eventually her and her kids moved to Louisiana.

Now back in Czechoslovakia, I have a ton of stories. Babies buried in cigar boxes and what not. I wont bother you with all that.

I am descendant from a strong Irish and English background, with a little German and French Canadian (but family came from England to Canada). My last name comes from one of the oldest names in England but have strong Irish ties as well. I believe it tracks back to when records were started in England and my great, great.... grandmother on my fathers sidecame to England from Ireland and the families merged and almost similar on my mothers side but there is some German mixed in.

On my father's side, I come from a blood line of witches from Scotland called the Hawkins, at least that's what they've been called since moving to North America, as well as another witch blood line called the Drakes, who are European, mostly from the United Kingdom area, they also changed their name when moving to America, but I'm actually not sure what the new name was changed to. The Hawkins still practice the Craft for the most part, but the Drakes have turned Catholic since coming to America. On my mothers side, I came from Black Dutch(German pagan) roots, and random Irish roots. I know the least amount of my Irish roots.

My family is a mixture of cultures. My mother's side of the family are direct descendants of a family on the Mayflower. I do not know whether or not they were Wiccan, but supposedly they came from the highlands of Scotland, which could mean a lot of things. My father's side is a bit more unknown. The only thing I know is that my grandpa was a native American. The mix of cultures has made me curious and I plan to research more on my ancestry

My bloodline is full of odaties and encompasses practicly all of Europe but pronominantly from the UK Germany and France. I'm also (aparently) related to lots of military people like Ulisies S Grant (general of the union army in the us civil war). And lots of high ranking people history has forgotten. I'm also the only heathen in the family.

My ancestry is a mix of Irish, Scottish, English, German, and Cherokee Indian. The irish side has mostly died out but the Scottish side is still alive and still rather good at fighting when needed. The cherokee is from when my family first came to their land and our pagan roots let us blend right in. The German side comes from my grandmother's mother who appearantly came from a very rich family.

Depending on many factors, tracing your family line back beyond a certain point may be nearly impossible. The only reason I have mine so far back, is that it was kept as part of the tradition and part of handing down the arts. Independently, I have only been able to trace it back to 862. Since the available historical records correspond with our own family records back to that point, I can only assume the older family records are also accurate.

Fires, floods, disease, war and the fact that many families, just did not keep records. Also, consider how poorly our modern government entities keep records, with everything they have to help manage. Now start running the technology clock backwards.

It is helpful to know where you came from, to better understand the direction you are traveling. That said, many great lines have died out, and what does it really matter if it is you who is starting a line or it was started for you long ago... What matters infinitely more, the path you choose going forward.

Just my thoughts on the subject. -Cheers!

my fathers side is Dutch and Italian- the Italian part derives from Italian nobility, but the noble blood has somewhat "thinned" now-a-days, however I prefer to ignore that minor detail... There is also history of Stregherian or Italian Witchcraft (if anyone knows anything or practises this path please PM me would looove to chat!). I now have Italian family all over the Italy, spread from the north to the south. On my mothers side it can be traced back to English, Scottish and Irish!
