"when the leaves are turned inside out it'll rain" that's what my great gram use to say, and it's true. you can see the veins of the leaves when it's about to rain [normally because the wind picked up] you can also look at the clouds, if there's "enough blue sky to make a sailor a pair of pants" it probably won't rain. there's another one about clouds being shapes like fish scales, but i don't know that one.
point is there are ways you can tell the weather without checking your phone app. commonly you can smell or feel rain in the air or in your bones. there's plenty of old ways of telling the weather, works really well, you just have to be observant really.
