Eh it sounds like people mistake and mix the terms 'wicca' and 'witchcraft' together.

A witch is anyone who casts spells. Even Satanists and Christians could be considered witches if they cast spells and do magic, but they aren't Wiccan because they follow a different religion than Wiccans. A Wiccan is someone who follows the religion of Wicca, which is an officially recognized religion just like Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism. If you get nothing else from this, remember that "Wicca" is the name of the religion and "Wiccans" are the followers of Wicca. So you wouldn't say, "I have a friend who is Wicca." Instead, you would say that your friend is Wiccan.

According to the Wiccan Rede, which are the rules that Wiccans abide by, Wiccans are not supposed cast harmful spells. The Wiccan Rede says, "And ye harm none, do what ye will." Someone who claims to be a "witch" but who is not "Wiccan" is not following the religion of Wicca. Therefore, they do not have to follow the rede. So they can throw curses at you from across the room. If you think you want to be Wiccan, or you want to know the difference in Wicca and witchcraft, here are some useful pages to read that explain the difference:

As for the question itself, in case you have learnt and do not mistake and mix the termes 'witchcraft' and 'wicca'. I will not touch the spells subject because i've already done this, I'll only tell you about what you can and can't do.

Wicca is a specific religion, if you join it you are wiccan. Christianity is a specific religion as well. If you follow this religion you are only Christian.
However, you can always have several tendencies that are taken from anther religion. Everyone canfollow a specific religion but can have some tendencies that are seen in other religions.
But this does not mean that you follow both of the religions, it only means that you have a specific religion but have tendencies from another one.
If you are catholic, you can have wiccan tendencies but you are still considered to be catholic.
If you are wiccan, you can have catholic tendencies but you are still considered to be wiccan.
Simply, this is your life to control so you can adopt tendencies from other religions and add them to your current religion. But combination of two religions is not really fully done.
You have to follow a specific religion you want, and if you do not like the current one - you can choose another one. As I said one can always adopt tendencies, if they want to follow their current religion and not to choose a new one.
As for witchcraft, the term is given to people who practice and perform any form of magic. Not only to wiccan.
So simply do what you will, this is your life to control.

As I said, a witch is everyone who casts spells, not necessarily only wiccan. I hope you understand the mistake here.

Hope it helps,

The sad thing here is that we are going to have the same topic arise sooner rather than later. I think it would be wise to avoid religious topics here, but I am in a small minority. The forums are full of questions of religion. I'll just post a few here for those interested in this particular topic...this is just a small sample, there are literally dozens more.

These are matters of belief and faith. I suggest going to the elders and leaders of your religious organization/path and searching within yourself for greater insight.

When you pick and choose what parts of the bible to adhere to are you really a Christian still? Or are you something else? That is the question you should ask yourself. You can rationalize all you want but tell any Christian clergy member you practice magic and he will tell you it is wrong, You will walk a path that is neither Christian nor Pagan and that is a sad fate. This argument is like beating a dead horse. It never goes away.
