' How Many Times ? ' - By me.

How many times have you faked a
Smile or a laugh?

How many times have you lied
Saying you were fine, when you were really breaking?

How many times have you said
For them to not worry?

How many times have you said
All you needed was a goodnight sleep?

How many times have you lied
To everyone but still hoping they would see through it?

How many times have you told them
Not to worry or that they're paranoid?

How many times have they cared?
One, two, three, maybe thousands.

But how many times have they helped?
One or two? Either because you rejected them
Or because they simply didn't care.
How many times have you hidden
Your arms by using sweaters and
Grip the sleeves hard?

Just to make sure they would go a bit behind
To make sure no one would see
How many times they have failed
And how many times you lied.

But darling, you meant not to lie
But you meant to protect yourself
Because maybe if you said the truth
And they didn't help, you would give up.
Because maybe they would hurt you even more
So you lie and hide.
Because maybe you don't want to be saved
But you need to. But they do not see that.

No, they see what they want to see,
They don't see the ugly broken sad truth, no
They see a beautiful lie
They know everything's okay.
And so you lose. My baby, you lose.
You lose because they do not know
Because you protect yourself
Because you're afraid.
And I do not blame you, for I am afraid too
It's easier to settle down with the misery you're already in
Then to adventure in the dark with the fear
Of everything getting worse.
But what you do not know is,
The dark can be warm and friendly.
Maybe if you go through the dark
You will see the light.
For there is no light without the dark
And no dark without the light.
Because you don't know
But you have to find out.
Now for the most important question,
How many times have you tried?
How many times have you adventured in the dark?
And how many times have you settled down for the misery?

Risk it, because sometimes you absolutely have to.
Don't wait for someone else to save you,
Don't wait for your prince.
Save yourself, my love.
Save yourself.

I'm really glad you liked it! I have many of those haha! Here's another!

DISCLAIMER: This poem is about depression and failing to resist not to hurt yourself. In no way do I support any of this. It's a simple poem of how I felt. Just sharing a piece of my history.

' The Ocean Of My Mind ' by Killian (me).

I'm lost I walk without a destination or purpose
I fight for air but I fail
And slowly I disappear.

I'm swimming in an endless ocean
Every swim is a new pain.
I swim and swim searching for dry land
But dry land sounds like a fairy tale.

All I can feel is pain.
But what is pain? Is it being rejected or humiliated?
Or is it a constant reminder that nothing gets better?
I don't know.. but I keep swimming.. without destination.. lost.

I see land and I feel,
I feel the hope and happiness of finding safe port.
So I swim, I swim hard and hard.
Suddenly the world looks like a good place.

So I swim and swim and when I get there..
There's nothing. I clean the water from my eyes and I see nothing.
What was that? It looked like a ship that was going to rescue me..
But it was nothing but an illusion.. a simple trick of my mind.

I take a deep breath
And the tears start running on my face.
I have no more energy,
So I stop swimming.

I find myself drowning.
With no will to swim, without energy.
I close my eyes and I let the ocean take me, I let it take me to the depths.

I scream for help
But my words disappear on the water.
They turn to meare bubbles that even though they reach the surface,
No one ears or sees them.

And so the ocean takes me
And I, without energy or hope,
I let it take me For I can no longer swim In the ocean of my mind.

I used to write a lot of awful and cringy poetry when I was in middle and high school to help me deal with shit. I'll leave the link. I wasn't very good both gramatically or in word choice, let alone the structure. But maybe it might be to someone elses taste.

It's been some time since my last words hit the paper, but here's an older one:

The Hills of my Home

Returning Home,
where the forests grow,
and the Hills watch silently.
Home, where people faded away,
and lives changed.
Home, where memories lived,
and preserved, what I had missed,
what I cryed for...
Now it's just a shell, an empty hole...
Yet the Hills of my Home,
make me remember the Times, from which I came from,
to carry on,
to outgrow the previous given form...

P.S.:Since September was supposed to be the TotM about Love. I would like to ask you if you wouldn't mind if I posted a series of poems, that I once wrote concerning that topic. It's called "Dreams for Love".

" And if you are to love,
Love as the moon loves;
It does not steal the night -
It only unveils
The beauty of the dark. " - Isra al-thibeh.
