maybe the 'spill' you cast was a non-working spell. there are a lot of spells on this site that don't work, so it takes some time and common sense to find the ones that do work. what spells did you cast?

another thing, you might of done real spells, but you didn't charge right, or you weren't focused, or maybe you cast a spell you really didn't need - like a millionaire casting a wealth spell.

finally, what happened to your old teacher that makes you need a new one?

You learn the basic first. Then cast spells. And don't cast spells all the time.
