"Scrying" typically refers to the art of divination in which you stare or gaze at something. The most thought of example of this is gazing into a crystal ball. When you scry you don't search around with your physical eyes so much as gaze into it and "see" with your mind.

A scrying mirror is a mirror specifically meant for scrying, a very common form being the black mirror.
