i'm reminded of George Carlin's joke about how important we think we are trying to save the environment. the planet is just fine, it's billions of years old, and there have been thousands of species and ecosystems that were here one day and gone the next. we didn't kill them all, and it's pretty arrogant of ourselves to think we did and the planet is in danger. [roughly the message he was going for]

yes, we need to watch what we're doing, and as pagans [depending on your believe] we need to be living in balance, and trying our best to avoid using more than we need, or doing harm to other living things that don't deserve it [i refer to testing on animals, not eating meat] i know what you're getting at, and while we should do little things to help, why do we need to cast and fix everything? the planet is fine [the people are messed... well, another George Carlin word you can't say on the radio, or SoM, but i agree again.] my point is, do what you feel is right, but overall, the planet will do what it always does, heats, cools, and fixes whatever was wrong.

personally i believe humans are the worst thing that ever happened to the earth we are a parasite consume consume consume with no though of replacing what we use we are the only animal in existence that actively destroys its own environment we are an infection and if i was the earth i would deal with us

Tsk, tsk, warlock! Such negativity...there are lots of people who recycle and plant trees and herbs and such!
I agree with Nekoshema as well!

I agree with using our abilities to help the earth, but as stated before, we can not change the laws of nature or break them so we can't do things such as levitate or create fireballs or whatever.

What we can do is recycle, remember to compost, not to waste and to just keep the earth in mind during our daily lives.

Repairing the ozone layer is impossible but I am horrified to see so many pagans not caring about the environment. There are even some posts in this thread that just shrug it off. We have defaced the Earth and spoiled much of her fresh water. It isn't right to be so irresponsible. Our children and grandchildren shouldn't have to clean up our mess. Yes it is true that the Earth knows how to take care of herself but the situation is way out of hand and she needs our help. I've posted some helpful tips below.

You people worry too much. If the earth stops holding in oxygen and plants cease to grow then nature will evolve us to perfection where eating and breatheing are unnecessary. And before you start accusing me of being a fluff look up alchemy because what i said is plainly stated

Technically speaking every couple thousand years the earth natuarully floods becuase of polar ice caps. The ozone will be damaged earh go through hell then ozone will repair and earth will heal itself thats natures magick to be able to heal its self. Humans are just making it happen sooner but mother earth is tough and can fight back. Hence the increSe in natural disasters.

Another suggestion on doing something good for the planet is to paint your roof white. I just got a new roof in white, instead of the dark grey that it was. I actually chose it for the look and then had the added bonus of finding out that is good for the environment. Apparently Bill Clinton advocates painting roofs white, being a way of helping our planet and doing something for the unemployment situation. Although I don't live in America there is also an organization in New Zealand promoting this concept
