Marfa, I have used herbs in spells, rituals, etc without harvesting them at a specific time and the spells have worked for me. I've been harvesting and using herbs for ten years, and I know that what I've stated works for me. You have your opinion and your experiences and I have mine. I know from personal experience that, as previously stated, it's all in how you handle and consecrate/bless the plant for spell or ritual purposes.

If you want to go out at midnight on a full moon and harvest an herb then more power to you, but for those that don't have the time to do that or are unable to do that, they can harvest it when they can and then use it in the same spell with the same results.

Clearly, by Warlock and myself saying that we have our own way of harvesting plants and it still works then this goes to show that you don't necessarily have to harvest a plant under specific circumstances for it to work in spells, rituals, etc.

Everyone has different experiences with magic, this is no different. Just because you do something a certain way doesn't mean that every single person has to do the same exact thing to end up with the same end results.

I will agree to disagree and leave it at that.

As far as I know these rules adhere to the collection of herbs, not only in Russia. it is done in other countries. Indeed, the power of herbs enhanced several times when out collecting on certain days. Better yet, herbs work in the rituals when their pluck and pronounce with the secret word (mantra). thus creating a binding to the target of this herb ritual. this technique is used in Russian magic over from the 9th century AD

This started of a somewhat decent post although as an herbalist both medicinal and magical I have to say; after reading the back and forth about harvesting, that it doesn't fracking matter when you harvest any herb, there are no set guidelines or rules to ensure the accuracy of a working of any type. I will say this, what does matter is what feels right to each individual person. If you believe that harvesting herbs at a particular time or in a special way gives the herbs and or working more potency or whichever then all the more power to you. But let it be known that spreading misinformation is what gets a lot of people confused around here, and honestly almost all of what I have heard is opinion and not fact. Don't read something such as a forum post and take it for face value as if it were complete fact. Instead read whatever you like then you decide for yourself what you believe, experiment if you wish to see what works for you comfortably and successfully and so on. Anyways aside from that note thank you BirdofWisdom for the informative post.

Blessings,

Othala

For me there is no other truth than the original. For centuries, herbalists, witches and warlocks gathered herbs, flowers and plants according to certain rules depending on the ritual. This keeps the magic of knowledge of many centuries. What can you say about the use of plants in magic, is a remake. I can not forbid you to use the magic of Google. It is your right.
PS experience and traditions of centuries are not comparable with personal experience.

I disagree. Plants can be picked at any time and still work.

PS:I have found this to be true from personal experience, which to me is truth.

Sorry guy's, I didn't post this to start an argument of some sort between you all.

I basically thought it was of use to me and maybe it could be of some use to any one of you here :/

Marfa - I'm not really sure what your point is towards this post. Not only did I NOT tell anyone on this that they MUST use flowers because any person on here knows you don't have to (it's your own choice if you'd like to or not) but this post had nothing to do with what time you must harvest them blah, blah, blah..

It was simply a friendly post for anyone interested on the meaning of such flowers. It ment you could also see the meaning and plant them in your home or give them as a gift. It wasn't just stuck to the option of using them in magick, so maybe next time instead of jumping to conclusions you may want to ask first? Just a thought...

Anyway, sorry guy's this wasn't posted to start an fights...just thought you'd like to know the MEANING of some of them....

Oh and F.Y.I Marfa.....some of us "Solitary witches" don't live by your rules. Some of us have a mind of our own and know what works right for us...

Basically what works for you won't work for the rest of us ;)

means the case.
Scientists around the world, exactly proved the existence of "daily fluctuations in the concentration of active substances in plants!
It's not magicians, but real scientists.
. I quote the opinion of scientists sovremenny: "Some plants containing alkaloids accumulate them at night and lose dnem.Sbor medicinal plants is not only determined by the calendar schedule, and weather conditions. best time to collect the grass show the bees and the plants should be taken where there are many"

and this opinion is Avicenna (XI century. n. e.), (it is also a scholar of the ancient little different from the rules of procurement of raw materials made of modern pharmacology:
"The leaves have to pluck once they fully acquire their characteristic size and shape and stay that way for some time, but before they change color and break down, at least, than they will fall off and crumble. Seeds should be collected after their bodies get stronger and when they leave the immaturity and watery, and as the roots, they should be taken before the start defoliation. Flowers should be collected after full disclosure to, but before wilting or abscission. With regard to ... the fruit, they tear off after they are fully ripen, but before they are ready to fall. The less wrinkled ... roots and wilted stems, fatter and better seeds, the denser and heavier the fruit, the better. ... The fruit gathered in fine weather, better than those collected in poor, wet weather, and soon after a rain. ... The fruit, picked at the appropriate time, harder than those in the collection of which time was chosen correctly. The more saturated the color of the fruit, the taste distinctly, and the smell sharper, so they are stronger in its own way "..

Modern pharmacology is not empirically, using the latest data on the dynamics of biosynthesis, accumulation and decomposition of biologically active substances in plants, has developed rational methods of collection of medicinal raw material, widely used in the practice of blanks.

here's a quote from a textbook on Tibetan medicine.

"herbs to preserve their power, that is, have the maximum biological effect, you need to know: How, When and Where they need to collect, how to dry and store. Regulation of medicinal plants has always paid great attention. In" Chzhud-shek, "states:
"For seven of these grass imposed requirements:
- She should grow up in a good location,
- To be collected in time
- Well-drained,
- Fresh,
- Unspoiled,
- Neutralized,
- To act gently and combined with others. "

rules for collecting herbs in the light of the moon and planetary time, used by many large pharmaceutical companies in the world!
