That would make sense with the EMC2. I had never really been under the impression that it defined nuclear reactions.

In terms of energy and matter being the same, they are the same because energy describes the state of the matter it is present in. Kinetic energy is matter in motion. Potential energy is the potential of matter to react and otherwise interact with its environment, and so forth. Energy itself is not a form of matter, but the description of it.

Psychic energy, in my interpretation, is not so much a manifestation of a new variety of matter but a transmission of the energies of the mind and spirit. Perhaps not unlike radio waves, or something of this nature, but certainly more difficult to define and measure. In theory it is possible to impact matter to a greater extent by influencing it with psychic energy, but to do so would require that you agitate the matter with a reaction that alters the energy into something more physical-based, such as kinetic energy.

At no point does it create additional mass.

Oh, AwakeTooLong, I wasn't talking about energy as you've described it, but the Energy that makes of the universe (you could call it the stuff that souls/ghosts are made of, but I find that description inaccurate). At the most basic level, matter is formed from Energy. There are lots of different names for it, but I use Energy because it seems the most general. Alchemists called it life-energy, and accurately described it as the fundamental building block of all matter. You are quite right about psychic energy, though. I never thought of it in those terms before, thank you.
