As a in the closet teen witch, magical tools are very hard to come by. The only tools I have are a sword and my Grimore. How can I work magick without tools-excluding my grimore?

Substitutes. For example.. instead of an athame.. a kitchen knife will do. :) Be resourceful if you must

No I mean, like no tools period. I don't believe that you have to have tools to do magick.

Oh. Yes. Tools are not a must when performing magick.

The purpose of tools may be to honor your deity, represent elements or just help with your visiualization of your what ever you are working.

To perform magick one must be very confident in their visualization skill.

Some say that new spellcasters should use their tools until they are experienced enough to do without.

Some, have never used tools or use very little and they end up with the results they set out to accomplish.

I'm just afraid that I'll get dependant on them. So strong visulization (sp?) is all that's needed to cast spells without tools?

It's up to you. I recommend you start with only a few perhaps. But yes, visualization is key.

Usually the reason for having beginner practitioners use tools is so that as they use them the begin to make the association in their minds as to what the tools are for. Meaning a wand being used to cast a circle, you are directing your energy into your wand, and seeing your wand draw a circle. As you do this continuously you without thinking make a mental association with what you are doing. Over a period of time you do not particularly need to do this, mentally you can direct your energy and cast a circle w/o any movement or the use of tools.

Some prefer to continue using such tools and some don't. Either preference does not make you any better than another practitioner. Meaning that the tools are not training wheels persay. It's more of a matter of preference.
