As I am posting, I might as well include the Gods and Goddesses who's names start with the letter G:

So here is a few to get us started:

BAbija, Fire Goddess of pre-christian lithuania. She was invoked by tossing salt onto a sacred flame

Gabjauja, a Corn goddess also from Lithuania, she was degraded to a evil demonic entity after the invasion by Christianity.

Gad, God of uncertain status, from the western semitic and punic (carthaginian). Gad was probably concerned with fortune or chance and known from the
Palmyerene inscriptions and Vetus Testamentum in place names such as Baal-Gad and Midal-Gad. He was popular accross a wide area and was later syncretized with the Greek Goddess Tyche.

Gaia.
Greek Goddess of the Earth. Worshipped from about 1500BC to 400AD. Other names she is given include Gaea, Ge and Terra. Her cult centrum as at Delphi, sources for information on Her have a look at the Theogony, and Homeric Hymns.

Ganesa
Hindu God pictures with the head of an elephant. Worshipped since about 400AD till the present day. He is the god of wisdom and art, benign deity generally assumed to offer help in overcoming obstacles. There is a lovely legend explaining why he got the head of the elephant...

Gauri, A Hindu Goddess who's name means 'whitish brilliant'. She was created by the churning of the ocean of milk.

Gita, a Mother Goddess in the Buddhist-Lamaist Tibet tradition. Her colour is red and She forms part of the Astamataras. (Mothers)

Gula, Healing Goddess of Mesopotamian. Her animal is the dog, she is also mentioned in Hellenistic Babylonian times. A temple to her was said to have been at URuk.

Gwydion, closer to home He is the Welsh God of War, his mother is said to be Don (Welsh Mother Goddess) and there is a great legend of how he cuased a war between
Gwynedd and Dyfed. He visited the court of Pryderi, son of Rhiannon, in Dyfed, and stole his pigs...


Gwynn A Nudd
Chthonic underworld God, again Welsh. He was known especially in South Wales and was the leader of the phantom hunt which chases a white stag. There are paralels with Herne in England and Arawn in the northern parts of Wales.

Gluskap - Native American (Abnaki & Algonquin) - A Cultural Founder amd Hero. Called upon for Strength, Wisdom & Rescue
