I think a pear tree could make a good wand, just consider what you'll be using the wand for. What are the properties of pear tree wood, and what spells will you work with the wand? Will they work together, even if they aren't exactly identical in purpose, or will they clash (and therefore possibly cause bad/jumbled energies).

Hi, am Tunde Posh form Nigeria. And I did like to get a wand "multi-purpose". Is there anyway I can get help? Am new to magic & spell.
I have a great love for magic & spells. But I do not know my way around it. Will appreciate it if I can get help. My mail is "siddonlook@gmail.com". Every help will be highly appreciated.

I'm new to magic, but I'm glad that other people out there share my interest (and belief) in magic :). Anyway, is a wand a needed item, or can you still do magic without a wand. I don't live by any tree's, so wands aren't available for me. Thanks!

You do not have to have a wand.

Which is better? A staff or a wand or is it just the user's preference?

I personally think that a wand has to reflect the person that uses it. I'm not sure about this, as I have never used a wand or staff, but I think that personalization of the wand makes you more connected to it. Of course, I have no idea how this would affect said wand. But, maybe if you personalize it more you get more attached, making it so you take better care of the wand. But, that might just be me...

You could always use something else, like your finger, for a wand.

I deffanatly agree with what everyone is saying, but I do have to say if your going to take from a tree, ask beforehand and I know this has been said manytimes but I have a strong connection to nature.

Does a wand work better when you make it yourself or could I just buy a base and customize it?
