I have my name in runes tattooed on me as well of the helm of awe. I recommend you research and study runes and write them out before getting them inked on you. Also the artist is key. I knew my artist and he also had runes on him

I think there may be a touch of confusion here. The OP says binding runes, not bindrunes. I'm not 100% certain what a binding rune is, but there is nothing inherently wrong with using a bindrune provided you put some thought into the positioning, runes used, and intent behind the whole thing.

I, too, am curious why a bind rune would be such a "no-no". They are combinations of runes (unless you meant something else by 'binding rune') so as long as you actually do your research and know what it is you are permanently placing on your body (like any other tattoo) and go to someone who can do it correctly I'm not clear on the issue but curious as to your thoughts behind that statement.

I have an algiz tattoo and used an artist whom I knew understood the meaning and would do it correctly and with respect for what it was.
I would not get a rune, symbol or honestly anything in any other language without fully researching first for many reasons.
