Is wicca all it's cracked up be?

I'm new to wicca, been learning about it for bearly a month now and since i'm a christian and still keep my christian beliefs i find it hard sometimes to accept everything that wicca is. At first i thought that it won't be so bad but i don't know anymore. I need someone to tell me everything, from experience, i don't want to know only the good side of wicca or witchcraft, i want to be aware of the bad too, there is something else that wicca is about that they are hiding. Something i am yet to find out in the internet.

If you think it's hiding something, maybe wicca isn't for you. Have you considered any other religions? And I think you've got it wrong. I don't think someone can be christian and wiccan. Wiccans believe in only the god and the goddess. There's no christian god involved.

Frankly Wicca (which is a specific religion) and Christianity (which has very different beliefs) are not compatible. If you're having questions as to whether Wicca is right for you then it probably is not.

So....what is it about Wicca that you find you like and what don't you care for? Perhaps those things you like can be found in other spiritual paths that would place you in less conflict with your Christian beliefs.

I find that christian Wicca tends to be more of an eclectic religion, as it would most definitely take a lot of work to merge the two. But then again, Christianity and wicca are just labels used to help identify yourself. If you feel that you don't need them, you don't have to identify as any specific religion and can take beliefs from both.
I would do some thinking and make a list about what you like best about each religion and see if you can work something put from there ;)

Yes, perhaps wicca is not for me, actually i don't accept few of the things witches do but it probably because i don't understand it, but still, i can't give it up yet, wicca came to me and i think there is a reason why.

I think i have crossed the path of turning back, i want to see it to the end. During my journey into this path i have encountered things like this and after a pause i always get over them somehow.
The things that witches do that just baffled me a little was the convoking of demons, but i see now it depends on the witch if they decide to call on a demon.

Thanks for your replies.

I want to correct something i wrote earlier; Wicca does not have a bad side just like christianity does not have one but rather they have the dangers to expect when following this path. Like christianity, you risk persecution or embarrassment from people by following the religion. While Wicca though they also risk persecution and disrespect, they also risk losing their souls. If one were to give in to the demands of evil spirits so as to gain something, that person stands a chance of ruining his or her life and losing their souls. Thanks

[minor rant, sorry to offend you] "Like christianity, you risk persecution or embarrassment from people by following the religion." no. Christianity has been the major religion for so long, just because other faiths wish to have the same reverence as those in the Christian faith doesn't make you prosecuted. until you're attacked, your house is burned down, or your children are taken away all because of your faith then you can say you're persecuted. [sorry about that, needed to get that off my chest. it also goes for those witches who harbour a grudge because of the trails.]

if we're just looking at Wicca [ignoring a slew of other pagan branches] it's a very peaceful earth based religion. unlike Christianity, it teaches anyone can speak with the divine, not just someone in the church. you need to be responsible for your own actions, if you did something bad, it's your fault, not a demon, or another person, you. this is why the three fold law is there. doing something, good or bad, will return to you 3 times over. this is why Wiccan's try to be helpful, and do good. we're not perfect [no one is] but we do our best to be good, helpful, and understanding. sometimes [because we're human] Wiccan's get upset, say/do things they shouldn't, and they will receive negative things 3 times over.

personally, i try to live in balance, and that's all anyone can do. doesn't matter the faith or background, Wicca teaches that there is no 'one true path' it's the path that's right for you. if you are meant to be on a certain path, nothing can change that. from what it sounds like, you're interested in Wicca, but you're happy as a Christian. nothing wrong with that, as long as you are happy, and not force your beliefs upon me, then i don't care, and you shouldn't either. [there's plenty of Christian Wiccans]

there is also no heaven or hell [well, summerland is sort of like heaven] so we deal with our punishments/rewards in this life instead of the next. so Wiccan's don't fear what will happen to our souls, we'll be reincarnated, or wander around as a spirit until we are ready to be reborn, that's it. Wiccans celebrate the seasons, and try to live happy healthy lives, rely on old and new sciences [like we'll drink ginger tea to sooth an upset stomach over taking gravol. though if we have stomach pains, we'll go to the doctor]

not everyone's the same mind, but the majority is like that. when you get down to it, a lot of religions try to teach peace, but it usually ends up one peaceful religion forcing theirs on another peaceful religion. from a wiccan point of view, we're not doing anything really 'evil' or 'bad' just be responsible for your own actions and try to be nice to everyone. that's basically all anyone can do.

There's a few things that are very wrong with this Dx
Christianity has a few bad sides. Not because of the religion itself but because of the people who define and compose it. Wicca, can then too have a bad side if the person practicing it is a "bad" person. It's important to remember that ALL religions are a creation of humanity. And since we're flawed our creations will be flawed, too. Secodnly, Wiccans don't risk losing their souls anymore than Christians do xD That's a silly notion. Do Christians not essentially lose their souls if they give into sin and consort with the devil? Last time I checked, that could happen. But this is all assuming that a soul can be lost. I have no experience with such things.

@Nekoshema

i agree with you that this day and age persecution in the christian religion is not common but before christianity became the major religion it is today many people suffered and died for it too. The disciples of Jesus all died painful death because of their beliefs. All i'm trying to say really is that no matter what religion we are born into there is a down side to it. Right now christianity is the major religion and wicca and other neo-pagan religion are still facing critics but that is not it's only down side, the risk of losing ones soul is high. We are all humans, and we tend to make mistakes you know, that is a danger that i wish everyone is aware of, that not all the things written about wicca is free of doubts. So with care we must consider everything we do so as not to fall into a trap set by demons.
