Any ritual that would help you find a spirit animal is probably not one I'd take from an anonymous user off of a website.

That being said, in Vodou, something similar, though not the same, is Met Tet, or a master of the head. This can be revealed to you through a specialized, in-person reading. Usually a Lave Tet, a cleaning of the head, is done as well. This is an all day affair about which you won't know much unless you under take this ritual, which can be done by anyone of any practice. Though speaking to the Mambo or Houngan who will be doing this beforehand and attending a Fete or two is a good idea. Ask as many questions as you can think of and be wary. There are many who will promise and then run with your money. YES it will cost money. You pay for money, materials, and time! Just a thought.

I agree with mamahearts.
I have seen rituals to call forth a familiar on SoM.
But I would recomend to just meditate over your spirit animal, that way it will manifest in the metaphysics/mentally and not physical.
I bet you know how to meditate, so just be in a place you feel at peace with, and ask your spirit animal to show itself and give you a message or ask for advices.
Hope this helped :)
Blessed be ~

Clarification: Spirit animals and familiars are not the same things. Spirit animals are a Native American totemism, while familiars are a more European line of thought. Familars are viewed to be a guiding force that is either attached toan animal present in one's life or one that has physically manifested into your reality, that is not to say one mightmaterialize before you. Spirit animals are seen as entities that guide one from a plane other than this one.

(Thanks to Moegami for the term "totemism")

Yes, sorry, I mentioned familiars because I wasn't sure in the question if you meant physically or mentally ^^

Can a person have more than 1 spirit animal at the same time in their life as spirit guides? If so why?

ryder, that's like asking if you're only going to have one teacher in a lifetime.
It's highly unlikely that you will only have one. Some are better equipped to teach certain lessons than others.
