Ok, that was probably a misleading title. Here's the story of it: several years ago I was a teenager dabbling in witchcraft and very fond of the idea of having an animal to love and help with magic. So I attempted a familiar summoning spell for a cat. A couple years passed and I more or less forgot about having cast that spell.
And then a small grey, wild kitten showed up at the front door when my parents were out and I was the one to open the door and find it. It, being wild, immediately tried to run away, so I grabbed it cause who would let a tiny kitten just run off to goodness knows where and freeze or starve or get hit by a car - anyway. I grabbed the only part I could reach - it's back leg. And, of course, it turned around and bit me. My finger, specifically. Long story shortened: managed to pry the kitten off and get it in a cat cage. We already had four cats at this point, and it hadn't clicked for me yet that this kitten was probably the familiar I attempted to summon a year or more before. (Being that it was grey and fluffy and female and turned up at my doorstep like the spell said it would, I think there's a good case for this being the familiar).
So we couldn't keep the kitten. Passed it along to SPCA and the bite marks faded away.
Except for the last two years the same finger that was bitten is a bit swollen and has dry skin and blisters sometimes. I've tried the medical, scientific way already and now I'm reaching out in hopes that someone knows a way to apologise to my abandoned/refused familiar or has any ideas on what the hay I can do. Cause it's stressing me out that my familiar may be out there in another home but knowing it was refused.
And trust me, I've learnt my lesson on that. No summoning familiars unless I know I can take care of them.
