Understanding spells

I see alot of people asking for spells and don't get me wrong we all love a good spell every now and then but being a witch doesn't necessarily mean you have to do spells because whatever we take from the universe we also have to give back.

Think of a spell as a transaction for example you want a spell for love what are you willing to give in return for what you want to achieve.

So in a nutshell be cautious when using spells as it can backfire dramatically if you inadvertently sacrifice something you want to keep

Wow! I definitely did not think it worked like that. There are some spells I've seen on the site where the caster's energy powers (or seems to power) the spell. Does this apply to them too or is this only for spells requiring spiritual aid like summoned deities?

This is something I view as a misconception. In my opinion, there is not any "taking" from the universe. Energy is infinite. It cannot be created nor destroyed. The purpose of a spell is to help direct energy through intention to a particular goal or favorable outcome. The thing I find that backfires a majority of time is the lack of belief and lack of confidence in the spell from the caster. You attract what you assume.

In my culture we don't cast spells and witches are considered outcast and evil. What we do though is spirit work. In my opinion this isn't spell work. Its more so asking for help and prayer, anything else you want to add to that is just flair. As for giving back with what we take is a key concept in my culture. We're suppose to not treat this as a transaction. Its about balance.Think of all the trees getting chopped down in the Amazon rain forest. This has a serious consequence because it throws the world off balance. Now imagine how the earth treats those who maintain this unbalance and think how the relationship you have with the spirits be if you didn't give in return. It's rather about the relationship we have with the spirits than the outcome with a prayer. It is all about balance.
