Ok, so now I know what Blue moons are and the importance of the moon cycle to magic, but I have a question. How does a blood moom effect magic?

Blood moons in lore is to help find treasure. The way blood moons affect magic is by increasing probability. The other part in the lore is that blood moons are unlucky and lead to chaos. I forget where I read blood moons find treasure but you can easily find citations in the chaos explanation.

my brother says that, usually, since a blood moon is reflecting less light, it has less power, like if the sun were to dim. The difference with this coming blood moon is that something has it as is an extra powered blood moon (I don't remember why, but that's what he said). He also said that there will be something to happen that will change millions of lives going along with this blood moon. I'm thinking it's spiritually changing lives, but I'll have to observe and see. He got this information from a deity he speaks to sometimes.

but yea, depending on the belief, it could increase magic or lessen the likelihood of a spell being powerful like the usual full moon.

I don't understand how that would mean the moon has less power since by that logic a new moon should be powerless yet it is a powerful object to draw from for workings involving change and letting go, etc. If anything since blood moons (or lunar eclipse) happens when the moon is hidden from sunlight as a result from the Earth lining up between the Moon and the Sun so the only light that reaches the moon is the Earth's atmosphere. Magically speaking when something happens that is so infrequent it is sign as a physical manifestation of the divine, so while not just blood moons but anything that happens in nature that is infrequent can be used as a source of power, like a lot of power. Now this isn't to say that reoccurring events such as full moons, passing comets, metor showers, etc, don't also have power, or rather energy that can be converted into magical power, it's just things like the blood moon are a different source of power. I'm not presently aware of any specifically magical practices done solely on the blood moon and I don't really think there are, same with other eclipses, but when I've worked with eclipses before they have a lot of energy to convert to magical energy and they can provide you with a lot of energy to use for spells.
