Ive always felt very strong chills that run up my spine, down my arms and legs when casting, but it doesnt necessarily happen during ritual work, it could be a thought or wish. I dont think its associated with spirits or areas or objects. It feels like its internal rather than coming from something external. Does anyone know what it is or have experience? Simplest and most probably answer is a shift in energies when it happens during ritual work, I take it as a sign that the work is complete. Would love to hear about other peoples experience of these full body chills!
As an energy worker there'sa couple different ways to answer your question. The first would be my own interpretation. It would be because the transfer of energy during spell work directly effects your body, and it manifests itself and shivers down your spine. The second would be what's actually happening physiologically in your body. To quote Stephanie DePetrillo from an article she wrote
"Its because our emotions are also connected with the hypothalamus, so sometimes goosebumps are just our body reacting to our brains signals of intense emotion. When we feel things like love, fear, or sadness, the hypothalamus sends a signal to our bodies that produces adrenaline in our blood. The signal triggers the arrector pili muscles to contract, and then we have goosebumps caused by emotion. The sudden adrenaline rush may also cause sweaty palms, tears, increased blood pressure, or shivers . That shiver down your spine goes goes by several names: Some call it frisson, or shiver in French, especially whenmusic is involved; others go with terms like aesthetic chills or psychogenic shivers ."
I hope this gives you a little perspective both from a personal standpoint, and a modern medical explanation.
Thank you for this! Really helpful. It makes sense that the same chills we experience when listening to music or observe art is also stimulated when we do ritual work. With the latter, it happens more frequently which I find interesting. Thanks again and blessed be
