Magic cannot make you or another object capable of flight, as that notion contradicts our natural laws of gravity, physics, nature, logic, etc. Utilizing aircraft is the most convenient solution we have right now.

Prismlight is correct. We cannot fly in the physical world using a broomstick or in any other way other than with an airplane. That is the stuff of fantasy novels and Hollywood films. If you think for a moment you'd realize the idea of flying on a broomstick doesn't make much sense. Don't you think that if it were possible the skies would be full of magic users on their brooms rather than waiting long hours at an airport?

The idea of flying on a broomstick comes from the days of the Witch hunts in Medieval Europe. A couple of priests wrote a book called the "Malleus Maleficarum" on how to hunt for Witches. They claimed that Witches rode on broomsticks to have orgies with the Devil. All nonsense of course. The only flying on a broom they "might" have done is to use the broom handle to deliver doses of hallucinogenic herbs that gave them the feeling of flying, but of course not to actually make them fly.

On the other hand, it is possible to fly on the Astral Plane using astral projection. It's kind of like flying dreams. You aren't flying here in the physical, but rather your astral or energy body is flying . There is a whole Forum here on this site full of information about Astral Projection.
