The Stonewall Uprising

Today is the anniversary of The Stonewall Uprising. Lets all take a moment to remember these brave people and reflect on what conditions were like for my community before this time. We have come a long way from a period when we could be arrested for simply wanting to gather and socialize in a bar to where we can now get married.

When I came out “Gay Bashing” was still a sport played by homophobes and the government stood by while hundreds of thousands of us died in a pandemic much more deadly than the one we just went through.

Light a candle and let us remember all those that have died for simply loving who we love. Yes we have come a long way and I have hope for the future but its not over. We need to protect our hard fought rights here in this country and stand up for those still under attack across the world today where you can still be killed for being gay.

Blessed Be

And in the current political climate here in the US, the battle that begun at Stonewall is still raging. Let us take a moment to remember those of Stonewall. But let us honor them by carrying on the fight for equal justice that they began.
