Wiccan commitments
By:
Hi all,
I have been practicing witchcraft for my whole life, I am now 37. Recently an opportunity came up for me to train and initiate into British Traditional Wicca. I am so excited by this prospect but it is also a very serious decision for me.

I have read through many of the posts here, which have been amazing helpful and informative.

One question I have though is what are the commitments to initiate and participate in a covern? Obviously there are the 8 Sabbats to attend plus the actual training complete, but what other things am I likely to come across or be expected to do/ attend?

Thank you very much for any insights you can offer x

Expectations and commitments will vary somewhat from coven to coven. If you have been invited to train with a British Traditional Wiccan coven then the best persons to talk to about what will be expected of you in their coven would be the Priest and Priestess of that particular coven. Is this a Gardnerian or an Alexandrian coven you are thinking about joining? If it's Gardnerian there is a great Seekers site on Facebook I can provide a link to.

Understand that there are not a lot of British Traditional Wiccans on this site. Personally I am part of the Gardnerian Tradition so there are some things that I can talk to you about in regards to that Trad. But there is much in British Traditional Wicca that is oathbound and not revealed until initiation. If you have questions, feel free to drop me an e-mail here on SOM

Thank you very much Lark!

That's good to know that it will differ from coven to coven.
I think I know which seeker sites you mean on Facebook.

It's an Alexandrian covern I am interested in joining. I understand that a lot of the practice is oathbound as with Gardnerian.

I will get in touch with the coven directly to find out.
