Asking Stupid Questions
By: / Beginner

When I feel like I am being too whimsical with my questions I feel like I get stupid answers. Especiallywhen I am doing questions for fun or when I am not being too serious with my queries. Is it possible when I do this, my deity whom I ask all my questions to, gets fed up and gives me stupid answers. I especially get these answers when I don't trust my own gut and ask the question anyway. I charged and consecrated my deck in my deity's name but each time I ask him if this is him I get answers like I am talking to a trickster spirit. I think I may have answered my own question while writing this, but what do you guys think?

Well for starters you should never be “whimsical” with a deity that is very disrespectful. You should be very humble/ respectful showing much gratitude at all times.

Secondly, your not supposed to summon deities that’s disrespectful they should be prayed to.

Lastly, if your getting immediate answers from a “deity” chances are it’s not a deity and it’s a trickster spirit or demon.

I tend not to utilize my deities in my divination work this way.

For divination with spirits I prefer a pendulum. My last session was very wonky, so I believe a cleanse of my pendulum is in order.

When I say divination with spirits while I am not actively seeking to ask spirits questions, I am open to the possibility they may be able to move the pendulum. I am simply aware spirits may choose to involve themselves.

As far as asking whimsical questions to a deity and this being disrespectful, this I feel depends on the deity and one's relationship with them.

Personally I would consider cleansing your cards, and rededicating them to your particular deity.

It is very possible that it indeed is a trickster spirit or entity.

You may wish to cleanse your person as well, if this is the case.

I never said I summoned a deity and if I did I would like you to point that out. Also, I am never disrespectful to my deity, maybe whimsical isn't the right word I was going for. But I do think it may be a trickster spirit and I need to dive deep into this issue.

There was never any mention of summoning at any point in the original post, so I too am a little confused as to what that response had to do with the original question.

That said, deities are associated with certain archtypes, but they are not that one-dimensional. I have found, in my work with several, that yes they can have relation to those archtypes but still have personalities all their own. They can be motherly/fatherly, loving, cruel, pranksters, or just down right rude and malicious depending on the deity and how they're approached.

So when you mention your 'whimsical' interactions with them, it is very possible that they aren't amused and are, in no certain terms, telling you so through your form of divination. They can be just like us when it comes to certain situations and how they respond to them. I've had more then one deity show irritation with me for being stubborn or not quite getting the lesson or matter at hand that I'm communing with them over. If this is a deity you work with regularly and you trust, it could very well be the case here as well.

If it is a new deity you are trying to work with, they could be playing tricks on you to get a feel for you and how you respond back, or as you mentioned, it could be a trickster just trying to do what tricksters do. As Crystal said,I would cleanse your cards and try again.

I do feel like my deity talks to me through my readings, especially when I am not asking yes or no questions. What my intuition tells me is when I ask stupid questions that I already know deep inside or when I try to do divination with no lesson behind it he blocks my way to him and lets other spirits decide the answer for him. I believe he wants me to grow as a person and any question that doesn't lead to personal growth or that isn't serious to my dear being annoys him. So he just flats out ignores me and like I said let other spirits pick at my bones.

I would like to say thank you all for your kind responses. I felt a little lost until I typed this all out. I think my deity just wants to me trust myself more and honor him. It's been a tough couple of years for me and all he wants for me is to let go of the past and not focus on silly issues that show no value to him. This really opened my eyes thank you. ~ <3

I’m sorry I assumed that if you were asking your deity a question you would have summoned him first.

I understand what you feel when you already know deep down the answer but asking the question isn't stupid. Honestly, you might know the answer which might be why your answers seem silly, because your deity knows you already know the answer, but you are seeking validation. I do this a lot, even with my cards, I know the answer already but I want confirmation that I am making the right decision or I am following the right path. I doubt myself, I believe we all do. I don't see anything wrong with seeking validation.

It may be a trickster as stated, but it might also be that your deity is frustrated that you doubt yourself. Just a thought. Hopefully, at least you know you aren't the only one asking questions you know deep down you already have the answer to. But I don't think any questions are stupid. It shows a willing to learn more and that takes courage.
