Today while sat on a step a single white feather just fell to the side of me and this afternoon while sat on the same step I went out and a black cat was just sat there at the bottom of my path and winking... two good omens in one day??..
The white feather means there are good spirits or deities watching over you and protecting you... The black cat thing I'm not so sure, it could be a good or a bad thing. I'll let the other people try to figure out the black cat thing, but be sure that the feather means good spirits are watching over you.
There are many meanings behind the black cat, but to me the cat in general is a sign to put yourself first for a change and look after yourself. To rest, to pause and look at your world around you. There's a couple of meanings towards it as will, as some believe that it is a human soul who have past on and have been reborn with unfinished business.
Also the old symbol of the black cat being a bringer of bad luck, if it were to walk past your feet, while to some it can mean good fortune awaits. This can come back to the white feather as it is often a sign that good spirits are near by at the moment. Or if you were to have an unfortunate in the week, you will pull out of it for spirt is protecting you and with you during this weak.
It depends on what resonate with you, since the black cat has many different meanings around the world. Black cats are also often socialist with witchcraft, if your new to the craft then it may be as simple as spirt encouraging you.
I use to believe it was a sign of something bad coming but a friend of mine who is a white witch taught me it was in fact lucky... I sure as hell cant have anymore bad luck!!.
I am not aware of anyone passing so I could strongly believe your comment about it being a sign for me to stop, breath and read to take care of myself as the last few years have been so cruel.
I am not new to witchcraft, I have Spanish gypsy roots and it was a path I wanted to follow when I was younger and an incident caused my Nan to tell me to leave it alone. Recently however, I have chosen to return to it all and have found myself here!
