I was wondering if there is a trait in genetics that is passe down that involves witches? I heard my ancestors where in the craft.

There is no genetic trait that makes one a Witch. In some families Witchcraft is taught and passed down from generation to generation, but this is a matter of teaching and sharing knowledge, not of genetics.

The possibility of traits that contain magical connections is still unsolved but very well possible. There is no telling if some genetics are more naturally fluent to magic than others, and I wouldn't shoot down the possibility either.

Not until there becomes a day and age where magic is an accepted and popular concept so that scientist can actually figure stuff out revolving it.

It has become popular to foster an "Everyone can do magic" kind of mentality, however, that is not the case. There is lore and tradition suggesting that natural talent for witchcraft was passed down familial lines.

This is not to say that it is a necessary factor.

I don't think there is a 'witch gene' but I do believe there can be a link to witchcraft and familial links. Perhaps it has to do with ancestral spirits guiding the person. Perhaps it is do with the spiritual world being tied to a certain familial line. Perhaps it is due to the fact a child is brought into an environment which beliefs in witchcraft and practices it and they learn. There are lots of stories and beliefs that 'the sight' is passed down family lines and I can attest to that fact.

But the majority of people here will tell you otherwise. I can't substantiate my claims and they rest on experiential data which has guided my belief.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. If you have any talent for witchcraft hard work pays off. You could be born with a natural talent, but if it is never cultivated or trained you will not get very far. There is no substitution to study and hard work.
