Let them come to you. A deity may give you signs to get your attention. For example, you may keep hearing their name or seeing symbols that are associated with them.

But don't worry too much about it if you're just starting out.

Start with a certain pantheon that interests you. If its the Greek, begin with a deity of subject that also interests you. Are you looking for a specific kind of god? One that represents water or night or the sun? Knowing what and who you are looking for can be a huge help. If you're feeling unsure and stuck, its most likely because none of these deities are calling or reaching out to you. Take a step back, reevaluate yourreasonings and desire to work with these deities and come back.

One will typically send you a sign such as: you'll constantly see or hear their name everywhere. One of their animals could constantly come near you or be around you.

For the Greek pantheon, I recommend www.theoi.com they have a large and vast amount of information on that specific pantheon. Also please note, some gods just didn't have that much notice or information on them so it will be scarce. Everything I've learned about Amphitrite has come from what little information there is, and pulling from epithets& literature quotes she's mentioned in.
