im confused, why put a spell in a coven spellbook if you only want a select few to know it?? anyone who joins can see it.

and also mayhea, i slightly disagree because there are many members here who are immature and in covens, they can see all the "powerful" spells of that coven, so how is that different than them seeing the "powerful" spells of another coven??

just debating.

You make lots of sense Lucifer...

I feel that its up to the coven to choose who they allow in their coven. Its not always easy to do. The covens should at least try to protect the spells and protect the members of the site from hurting themselves. We try to and we do warn of it on our coven descriptions.

If the immature person starts trying to go from coven to coven they would surely be Quickly stoped. So even if they were allowed to get to the spells of one or two covens, they wouldnt be given acess to them all. Please dont get me wrong Luzifer I agree with you in theory. It would be great if we all could be trusted with all of the spells here, but unfortunately Self Government wont work without Self Discipline(just my oppinion)

If their spells are so dangerous, what's stopping inexperienced members of the covens from doing anything? There should be a warning whether the hording continues or not. Some sort of warning on the spells would work just fine to discourage any inexperienced members. Sure, some may be ambitious, but they would still understand that it is dangerous for themselves to go through such a thing. Sure, it's a loaded gun with a warning. And if the spells are so dangerous, how would somebody inexperienced and incapable of handling it be able to do it in the first place?

Well, I think the spellsbooks should have "From the Coven _____ Spellbook" on it, if everything is to be public..
Because it gives courtesy to someone, and that only council members of covens other than the public coven - "Spell casters" deemed mentally mature and responsible, allowed to post spells up.
Because, as I see it now, I don't really trust the "Spell Caster" spellbook, some spells we know don't work at all, some are a joke, but we cannot do anything about it.
If spells are to be public, they need to be regulated, and their source stated, otherwise, we wont know which ones will definately work.
Anyway, spells are better off if they're made by you, right?

As a priestess I have listened to the arguments and decieded to make our spells avaialable to public. Our spells are helpful and usefull and it would be selfish to keep them to ourselves.

I can agree that spells are not for everyone but that would imply the person looking at the spell having the responsability NOT to use it!

Spells in Practical Withces are meant to be helpful, not only to the members of my covwen but to others looking for that certain spell.

What have you lost if someone steals your spell? How can you stop them? If that spell could be used against you why post it at all? You cannot anticipate every move someone else will make, therefore if you believe your spell could be stolen and have a negative effect, do NOT post it! Share it privatly with someone and let them know of the consequences.

And if spells are dangerous, then they should not be posted! Meerly given to those in need, or who are able to use them. It is then the responsablity of the person who has it, to give it to those who are able to harness it. Is it not?

And spells that have been passed on from others in families, they can choose who to give the spell to. If they know the spell will be posted (by themselves) and there is a risk of it falling into the wrong hands, then i will repeat myself, it should not be posted!

Practical Witches spellbooks are public~
And Sir, yes, spells are much more effective if you create them yourself!

What about having it set so that if someone realy needs a spell from another coven they just ask for it.And as Long as they are mature witches the request being given? We should all be helping each other on this path. We are all brothers and sisters in my opinion.
I was in Spellcasters at first.Someone really needs to take the bad useless spels out fo there. I realized after a while it was not for me and joined another.
As for the newbies, using advanced techniques. I have meet a few here who have came to me for help & advice. I am helping a few out.One of those is using advanced techniques. I have tried to steer the person in theright direction. And Kids are gonna do What they want. Parents /adult fiqures be damned.I am also a parent of five sons ages 25-10 who Ihave raised by myself. So I come from experine on this one.
All we can do is try to help them and hope they listen.

But we have to look at some facts here.
Recently LadyO and Murderface had someone stealing spells from Black Twilight and adding them to another coven spellbook.

I for one would have been VERY peeved off if I found any of my spells in another coven book.

Some of my Council Members have added their own spells which I am happy to let them choose if they wish them to keep them private or leave them open to view from the public.

But the way this site is going, no I dont wish to open my spellbook to anyone who wishes to take them and call them their own work.

I've worked myself into the ground to have my coven the way it stands now.

Sorry but that is my view.

If people wish to use my spells then they can join. And they are not obliged to stay after they get what they've been looking for.

I would sign but as a Gypsy and a member of the Gypsy coven I do not want to share Gypsy spells and rituals are meant to be kept a secret I don't mind giving out a spell if someone asks me or if it is my own and I want to share with others.
