I recently used a spell to ask for a sign of when something will happen. Maybe I’m looking at the wrong thing, but I keep seeing a single star very frequently. Could this be the answer? Also, how would I interpret that as a length? Thanks for your time

Personally, and of course others will likely see it differently, seeing a single star many times wouldn't be a sign to me, because stars are (for the most-part) ever constant, that star was there before you did the working and will likely be there long after we are all gone. Because of that, stars aren't the best to use as signs as once you notice a single star, your mind tends to remember and automatically see it again, time and time again.
So generally, as far as my practice is concerned I tend to look for signs in less constant things, such as, seeing the number 8 repeatedly, may be an indication of a certain amount of time, or seeing an unusual animal multiple times in many, many different locations may give me pause, and I may look into the spiritual meaning of the animal to see if it represents anything in my working.
Signs are tricky things, so generally I let things happen when they happen unless a sign clearly jumps out to me. But you could look into divination work rather than asking for a sign, as a divination reading, could give some indiviation of time or of order and as things begin to happen you may recognise the order the reading showed and know around when something will happen.
If you're seeing this "star" as the first object you see when the sun sets then it could possibly be a planet, like Venus or Mars or something. You could find out by downloading Stellariumand putting in your location. Like HearthWitch said, using stars as signs isn't such a good idea since they are constant, but planets move around all the time so it might help, especially if your sign is something to do with love (associated with Venus) or conflict (associated with Mars).
But yeah personally I'd take a sign from bird feathers, animals, numbers, weird synchronisations and things like that instead of a star or planet.
