Aromatherapy is one of those practices that does not exactly have a date of origin when you research it, its origin's are scattered throughout different cultures going back 6,000 years ago. The Egyptians, Greek's, and Chinese all suggested the usage of aromatherapy but the actual term"aromatherapy" was used by a chemist named Rene-Maurice Gattefosse. His book "Aromathrapie: Les Huiles Essentielles, Hormones Vgtales" was published in 1937 using this term, but this all started because in 1910 he burned his hand and used extract from lavender to heal the burn.
The usage of aromatherapy to me is more than using oil extracts to heal yourself, it is a unique way to infuse aroma's with energy work to create places of awesomeness. This spring i plan to create an environment suitable for butterflies, bee's, spirits, and guests of all types, and i plan to use aroma and and a well planned energy work method as my main tool's. The plan is to use black mulch, black is well known for dispersing negative energies, and i want the least of negativity in my garden and plan to use everything i can with the intent of protection, spiritual healing, and comfort.
Vervain will be my main flower plant this year, vervain is used for protection and is considered a plant of many uses (Link below will give you a good list.) it will be used as a night time tea and to add blessing's to my home. With the vervain i plan to grow sunflowers which are also another multi purpose flower. I will use the seed's to bake for the kid's when its time, the flower petals will be harvested for future spells, and they will be perfect for bringing comfort and warmth to my home, as they follow the light so shall we. Sage will be grown in small pot's and i will be growing these on the patio to produce a lovely aroma and to add to the protection of the sanctuary. When the time comes i will harvest the leave's from the sage, tie them in a bundle, and leave to hang for drying, also for future spells.
The energy work portion will come with charged crystals that will be placed in various places through out the garden once a month, and some will remain throughout the season i just plan to switch them out. The fun part is when i finally have all the plants/herbs growing. I will sit outside and take in all the aroma's from my garden and feel each crystal, every charm within the ground, each manifestation, every spirit, every insect and attune myself to this channel. With the life in my garden i will infuse aroma, energy, and create a sanctum sanctorum for the people, spirits, and creature's that come to live or visit our home. To conclude, this is just a way to infuse different energies and aroma together to appease the spirit, body, and mind and all those around you.
