Been feeling really restless lately and I don't really know why. Maybe I just need to get out more because this freezing weather has kept me inside or something, but I dunno. Just feel like I'm too big for my skin and just generally uncomfortable. And I've sort of felt just like I need to go outside and like, dig my fingers into the dirt for no reason. Or just go and climb some trees. Hearing the coyotes every night just makes me wanna run off with them. I just wanna be able to calm down, short of doing all that. Can anybody recommend meditations techniques or something? Thanks!
There is a paid app I like called Calm. Here there are a variety of guided or timed meditations you can do. There are various series from happiness, sleeping better, remaining calm, relationships, habit breaking, etc. There is also instrumental music for sleep, relaxation, or focus. And there is also sleep stories and master classes. I will let you check it out if you are interested.
If you cannot pay for an app at this time, I recommend checking out YouTube. There are tons of free content there- you can have guided meditations or even watch ASMR videos (I will let you learn about ASMR on your own if you are interested).
Not sure where you live, but I live in Canada. Where I am we got Winter early this year, Two and a half months so far, and I suspect we will have another month and a half at least and 2 months more at the most. Although I know some Winters we had until mid-late April. Here are a couple of magickal and practical things to do during this time.
-Go on walks during the warmer days if you can, whether you just walk around your neighbourhood, visit a trail or whatever. Be mindful of the nature around you.
-Getting more active- more of a mundane or practical rather than magickal. You can go skiing, skating, snow shoeing, etc. I always wanted to try moonlight snowshoeing, that is becoming more popular around here. Alternatively you can go to a gym or indoor pool, join a yoga class, or anything else.
- Do spells that generate calmness, I have my own personal favourite if you wish to have it. That being said there are lots of calming spells on this website you can take a look at.
-Practical/Mundane- take on projects. This can be hobby related or even involve tasks you need to complete. Recently I cleaned my entire place. I washed all my bedding, dusted EVERYTHING, organized drawers, and closets. I also got into some hobbies I never get around doing when the weather is nice. I love activities like sewing and calligraphy, but during the summer time I am always riding my bike or going out with people so I never make time for solitary activities
-Practical/Mundane- volunteer for a charity or organization you support. This will get you out of your own head a bit and let you focus on people who need some assistance.
-Magickal- make your environment more peaceful. I do a lot of 'room cleansing' with incense, or salt. I am mindful when I sweep that I am getting rid of negative energies in the room as well. I put my crystals, salt lamps, plants, incense, books, whatever that give my room a witchy vibe. Not sure how old you are reading this and how much control you have over your living space and how 'out' you can be. However if you can then definitely make your space feel more magickal. You will be more likely to draw on those forces when you need them because they are around you instead of hidden in a box.
Good luck and feel free to message me if you want to connect!
Lots of folks around our area are feeling the same way. Being that restless drives me crazy. This is the time we usually plan out the gardens and start to find the seeds we still need. When the day is at the warmest, try to get outside and go looking for any signs of spring you can see. Tomorrow we celebrate Imbolc so today we will go walking to find small items to bring back for tomorrows festival and we will chase out the dust from the house. Cleaning is a great way to use that extra energy you have.
