Spirits,Ghosts, etc.

So, for many, many years, there appears to be something in the upstairs of my house. What this something is is still a mystery in all respects, but what is known is that it is very sad. There is almost a sense of terror with the entity as well. On top of all of this, there has only been one sighting by an adult. After this single sighting (during which the entity was spoken with), there has been a sort of calm with the entity.

For the most part, we have identified it as being a young girl, at least as far as appearance and the screams and the crying in the night have let on. Aside from this, there is nothing to go on. There are no records of any tragedies in the house, and there is no evidence of any sort of abuse that would have caused enough left-over trauma in the house to create such an entity.

To summarize and conclude, My wife and I are looking for a way to discover what exactly the entity is. We don't have the personal experience, nor the technical knowledge to do this ourselves without a direction to go in. If anyone out there has any ideas, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
