Lately I have been trying to develop a few rudimentary abilities, such as the ability to see auras. I am a complete beginner in seeing auras, but have had a few successes. Most of these being flukes. Today I noticed a light blue aura around my pencil. I am wondering if my vision is just unreliable, or if pencils and other inanimate objects can have auras.
I am quite sure that a pencil does not have emotions or a personality, no. However, auras can also reflect energy, so if someone were to have used while feeling very strongly or used the pencil for an emotional purpose such as drawing or writing, the energy could latch itself to the pencil for a while. It is possible that's what you saw.
When I was learning about auras, I was told that they were strongest around people and reflected emotions, but also personality and energy having to do with everything going on around them. For example,if the person is talking to someone they like or dislike, it would affect the way their aura looks. Or if they are doing something that they feel passionate or nervous over, this would also affect their aura. I was also taught that energies are mostly created by people, but can become attached to objects, and for this reason, inanimate objects may also look as though they have auras, even if technically speaking, they do not have their own. It is just a reflection of energy that has become stuck to it.

It is also possible that it was just a mistake, if you area beginner and most of your successes were flukes, as you said. I don't want to say this is definitely what happened. I just want to point out that it is a possibility.
people tend to leave a little bit of their aura on everything. I realized that when I started seeing an aura around CDs I played a lot. If you have been using that pencil a lot you're probably seeing a bit of your own energy attached to it
