Kotodama

Kotodama are names and words or even lists of words with magical powers

It originated in Japan and is sometimes used for exorcisms by writing names of kami(Gods) on slips of paper called talismans to invoke their abilities

Ofuda are kotodama charms with the name of the God and place of worship used to counter act oni and other evil spirits
