Beginning a Path
By:
Hi, I am very new here. I am trying to find a good path to work with before I actually try any spells. I was raised in a Catholic home and have had basic Christianity as a foundation in my life.
I have taken time to read all of the Newbie articles and FAQ's. I have also taken time to read thru forums, there is just a lot of information out there!
I am seeking out magic as a positive release of energy and to gain confidence within myself and the world. My number one priority is to keep my home and my family safe as well.
Any advice is welcome! I really just need a good foundation to start.

You should follow a path that draws you in. There are many paths to follow, you can even create your own like a lot of people. Being eclectic, for example.

This is something personal, people can not tell you " follow this ", it has to be your very own intuition to choose. That's the only way where you'll really feel like that's meant for you because if someone else tells you what to follow, you might be missing out on a lot of things that would make you happy and fit in with you.

Tons of vibes to you on your journey. My path is also based in Christianity (but only in the sense of the Christian Trinity being my spiritual focus and who I draw my energy through).

The one thing I can give for advice is to take your time and not rush. Respond to and research things that draw your interest.

I've been on my path for a decade now and I'm just now getting to where I can complete my altar with things that speak to how my spirit can naturally operate with spell casting.

In a lot of cases, 'path' is closely related to the practitioner's religious beliefs, and not just magical practice.

Magic does not require any spiritual belief whatsoever. Study and practice what you like. If a particular system seems more interesting for a while, study that one. When another catches your attention, by all means, study and practice that one!
