Greetings and salutations to all users of the forums and the site. I am Engwald from the United States, a solitary pagan practioner. The energy of the elder Furthark runes called out to me at an early age and I have been relying on them for guidance for many years. Reading and research are where I put most of my energy. My interests are vast and do not preclude me from learning from other faiths. Im very much a novice in a practitioners sense but I am very well versed at being a great ambassador for my faith. Its tough sometimes to be an outsider, vastly outnumbered by persons of different views. I look forward to learning from these forums especially from those of Nordic and Teutonic faiths.
Thanks for the welcome. Blessings to you and yours also. Heres a really good read... A History of Pagan Europe by Prudence Jones and Nigel Pennick. Barnes and Noble. It is quite abbreviated as to substance but the chronology is well established. I chose this book to get a feel of the evolution of paganism in history. I find interesting influences from culture to culture. The footnotes are a good reference for further reads.
Welcome to the site. I have in the past worked with the runes but I had to leave them behind on my many travels. And looking to find one that will be calling me. Anyways, I do love a good book and the ones I am currently readings are:
Spirits,Fairies, gnomes, and goblins: an encyclopedia of the little people.
The Fortune-Telling Book: the encyclopedia of divination and soothsaying
Parkers astrology: the essential guide to using astrology in your daily life
And a few other odds and ends. I would love to discuss anything in the occul with you and hope you enjoy the rest of your year and those that will come.
