Las Vegas Attack 10/01/17

Hey! I'm in southern Nevada and I'm hoping to find some rituals and spells to help those spiritual struggling, the empaths, the injured and the dead.
Do you have any suggestions?
I was going to have our group wish for protection and guidance over people on bay leaves and provide some protection spells?
I'm hoping to do a united healing ritual for the valley its self an those in it, even the dead.
Please and thank you,
Skaya

Hmm... I pondered about this one for a while but I can't think of any specific spells or rituals that can be pulled from. but I did have a bit of an aha moment that might at least give you a direction of research. ...Actually I had better give credit to my guide for this one, I was doing some meditation on the problem and I got the distinct impression of him giving me a cuff upside the head. Apparently it knocked some rust off the gears because it gave me an idea!

Go to a natural place where you can safely light a small fire and otherwise make a circle, and do a spirit calling. Invite the guardian and healing spirits of the whole area to be present, give thanks, and share in your energies of good intentions and thankfulness. Celebrate and honor the roles they already fulfill all across the Nevadas and give them strength and recognition for their constant and enduring efforts.

With the whole group working together you guys could open up a channel of positive energy to feed into the spirits, along with the already empowering actions of simply recognizing their presence and giving thanks. With some research you could find some specific names of spirits that work within the area to call to them directly, and maybe gather a few things that they favor to give as offerings and gifts. if the fire laws permit it, you could build a big ol' bonfire within a stone circle and use it as the centerpiece of the calling and offerings/honorings to give it some Samhain flair as well.

The process itself should be kept fairly simple in my opinion. Just open a group circle around a fire (the bigger the bonfire the better!) and dedicate the proceedings to the spirits, guardians, and guides of the land and invite them to join you in the offerings and rituals that they may gain strength in their tasks of watching over the land and the beings within it.

Then each of you would do something simple to recognize and honor the spirits, or any specific spirits they want to call to, with the leader of the ritual being the first and also last of the circle, should open with the first honoring, and close with a collective giving of thanks. then rest for the evening, share stories and experiences, talk about ideas and thoughts around spirits, energy, healing, etc. Maybe break out some drums or music and have a dance, and otherwise spend the evening in the presence of any entities that came down to join you.

Thank you for this.
That is a brillant idea I like the idea of calling spirits and fire but what are some offerings we can contribute and how can I go about research on the spirits.?
I'll try to keep it seasonal with samheain also.

Personally I would rely on the local history and lore for that. I'm not local to the area so I am not sure which tribes made their homes there, but if you can get in touch with a local medicine man or other member of the native spiritual community they may be willing to share some ideas. The library or stores might also have some books on local history and folklore that could offer some ideas.

As for potential offerings, one of the more universal ones I am familiar with for native american deities and spirits is raw tobacco. It is one of the more sacred herbs that can be used in offerings and especially in carrying prayers.

https://www.mollylarkin.com/tobacco-do-you-know-how-sacred-it-is/

Sweetgrass, sage, and cedar are less traditional as offerings but still also obvious potentials considering their common use. Fresh fruit, meats (cooked or cured), and home-made breads might also be good. Music through song, drum, and rattle is especially favored as well by my understanding.

I think in the end as long as it is an expression of recognition and thanks, and it is something you have gathered, prepared, or produced yourself it will have a valued meaning regardless of if it is 'traditionally sourced.'
*chuckles*
it's kind of like a child bringing some kraft-dinner noodle art home to mom. Even if it doesn't really look great, the recognition of the effort, time, care, and intent is still there. It is all about that energy you exert into putting together the offering.

When you study, and learn, and commit effort to earning, cooking, building, assembling, or otherwise producing some thing, it takes a personal investment of time effort and care. That is what is being carried to the spirits through the offering.

Using singing as an example, a person needs to take the time to find or learn a song that expresses their emotions and desires, and it needs to feel connected to the intent- or in this case spirits. You need to practice the notes and timbre and cadence, training your voice. All that time you are also making that offering. Every thought of wanting to 'do it right' or 'do it well' is dedicating consideration and thought towards the spirits you want to honor. Then add the arrangement of the formal setting. Finding the personal courage to stand up among your friends and sing out, it becomes a lot more than just 'yelling out some words all fancy-like'. You have invested yourself into the act and that investment is released when you actually commit the offering.

This is why home-baked offerings are better than store-bought foods. You are doing the work and investing the care to build the bread or pastry or other foods with your own two hands. When burning other items like herbs, satin or other cloths, candles, etc you are in effect destroying something that you worked to earn. You committed to a job, earned a wage meant to use for personal survival, and turned some of that energy time and money into an item that you found, and see value in it. You are taking the value of something you have worked to earn and are giving that value away to something outside of your personal well-being.

I have been thinking of all the people affected in the Las Vegas attack including, what could the shooter have been thinking to do such a thing?
I am going to light a white candle for them, on Thursday, the full moon. And ask the goddess to comfort all who have been affected by the violence. Including all of us on this site, we feel it too. I think the universe is affected by all the violence that is so prevalent in this time. Time to send out some love and comfort to the world. It will be returned.

Certainly a beautiful thing to do indeed. Answering hate and violence with love and healing is a good way to go.

If you are familiar with channeling practices, maybe include a few minutes of meditation visualizing yourselves each both connected to the earth below, and also to spirit above. then imagine the energy of the earth flowing up through you into spirit and also the energy of spirit flowing down through you into the earth.

Basically imagine being a connecting bridge that allows the earth and spirit to share their energies and help the land become whole again. Similar to a healing session.
