October's Herb of The Month is Gardenia!

Have you ever smelled that generic fresh linen smell but didn't know what it was? Well, commonly it is gardenia. These flowers are commonly used in wedding bouquets. Would you want to use them in your ceremony? Because they are white, they are associated with purity and devotion. What other things do you associate with white? In Victorian times they were sometimes given anonymously by a secret admirer. If you were to receive them in this manner would you find it romantic or creepy?

Funny enough, my wife thinks gardenia smells like dirty laundry. So for a spouse banishing I just have to light a gardenia candle, works like a charm! xD It is actually one of my most favorite smells. Like it is top three for me with rain/ocean and rose or cherry blossoms. I think it smells fresh and clean. I do associate it with purity for both the smell and the color white. I was not going to wear white for my wedding and I prefer pink roses so I will not be using them in my wedding boquet.

If someone gave them to me in an admirer fashion, I would find it extremely romantic. I'm a bit creepy yandere so things that should probably disturb me I find humorous or flattering more often than not. They are really beautiful so I would like to grow them at some point in the future. I often use a white gardenia candle in bathing purification rituals. So having petals added to the bath water would be a lovely touch as well. I'd likely hang them upside down to dry them like roses and then jar the dried petals for later use. I think they would be good for burning with other herbs to purify the home.
