Spirits?

So, I am just going to cut to the chase. I was up in the woods not a few minutes ago preforming some magick. I walked by my shrine to Hecate and, naturally, stopped to pray to her. I rang my bell on the alter to honor the four winds and continued on my way. I when a little ways and stopped by a lake. I sat down and opened my book of shadows and began to sing a song I had made out of a poem. It goes:

Gladness is Madness
and Madness is Gladness
as Goodness is badness
oh end me my fear

Darkness is lightness
Dullness is Brightness
and Blackness is Whiteness,
Sadness is Cheer

Hecate, oh Hecate
Madness is sanity
the truth is profanity
Hear me oh Hear

Great lady of Moonlight
Give me your badness
and twirl me with Madness
Oh end me my fear.

Then I sang it a seconded time. After that I spoke an Invocation to borrow some of Hecate's power, and gave her an offering of A special kind of fern that grows where I live, to take its endless life and give it to her as an offering of thanks. was about to sing it a their time when I herd the sound of the bell at my alter in the distance ring several times. As I walk up and go to check out the nose I have the distinct impression that I am being followed. And when I come back to the alter, everything was as I left it. Then the wind began to pick up like crazy and, naturally, I got scared and ran. And as I ran I again had the impression that I am being followed. So then when, I got home, I got on my computer and began to type this thread. So my question was, what was it? Could it have been earth spirits? I read that although earth spirits can be friendly they can be quite cruel as well. And if so, should I take precautions and be worried. I do not think it was Hecate. It wasn't even night. Does anyone have suggestions?
