Nephilim

Okay, so I might have spelled it wrong ( just throwing it out there ). A Nephilim ( from my research ), is half-angel and half-human. This dates a little bit into the biblical area ( Catholicism)- ( again going off of what I read ), okay back to it, or should I say to start this. Okay, most people would agree to disagree that their real, but for the time being, let's assume their actually real ( Nephilim's ). Just to make people think out side the book, kinda a brain tester sort of thing. Anyway, say Nephilim's are real, how would one truly know they are one ?? Again this is to test the limits of the mind and think on a different frame of mind, so I know their not real, so.

If you believe the Book of Enoch, the tale of the origin of the Nephilim (which are only mentioned twice in the current Bible), then it would be obvious: They were giants. Having a height of ten feet or more, and not in the lanky sense of people with certain genetic disorders; giant with the structure and cardiovascular ability to become warriors.

There is but one version of them. Their supposed origin is in the book of Enoch. They are mentioned but twice in current canonized scriptures. Their existence is purely mythological. They are not real, nor were they ever.

Okay, as you have stated, let's say that half angels/half humans exist,
I think that they'd know either from the beginning (parents telling them/growing up in an area where being a Nephilim is normal/etc) or either an awakening (accidentally doing something no human could ever do/stumbling upon a fellow half angel/etc).
Remember though, as the others have said in this comment section, they are not real, but it's fun to imagine.

Prsona is completely correct about the Nephilim and their origins.

They originated from theBook of Enoch so I'll be following and quoting from there.

I'm also focusing on the "Angel bred with a human" reasoning. Since the angles were decided by God to have been corrupted in order to do such a sin (as you'll see later on why it is a sin according to the bible), they are often considered either the devil and his followers or as fallen angels. They also sometimes are considered holy men who procreated with unholy women.

For starters, they were incredibly tall, "300 ells" was the exact wording. Now 300 Modern English Ells is around 375 yards, but since those units are modern, I googled the actual "canon" height and found the internet says 450 feet, which is a lot more reasonable. 450 feet is around the size of a 45 storybuilding if it followed the standard 10ish ft per floor.

But what were they like? Horrible. In short, they were actually worse than the devil in their earth destruction, as (correct me if I'm wrong here!) according to the book, they were actually horrific sinners in personality, destroying everything they came across, and literally eating every living thing in their path. The devil may tempt you, and some believe the devil causes evil to occur, but it's not a constant thing of his. He sometimes shows in the books that he has a sense of civility. He may cause evil but he also is professional about it and does not attack everyone all the time. Nephilimsliterally were destroying EVERYTHING. They sawsomething? It was destroyed. No questions asked. There was no salvation from God, there was no chance to be saved. They literally ate everything living in their path and left huge amounts of destruction in their wake.

But if they were real back then, they are not real now. God and Gabriel (I believe it was him at least) discussed them and decided to destroy the Nephilimthroughan arena style battle to the death. It was a big event, even humans were allowed to attend, as the Nephilimwere placed in the arenaagainst one another. Their natural instinct was to destroy each other in bloody, horrific battles, that ended in all of them being destroyed. As for the fathers, they were all deemed unclean from the start, as to even consider to lay with an unholy woman is unholy in itself and therefore they could not be holy. They were given actual hell punishmentfor eternity and no other angel would fall to such a crime again.

After posting that, I did some research to check my claims.

Below all this jumbled mess, are my conclusions about whether or not a Nephilimwould be able to identify itself.

But first, here are a few notes and corrections to my last post:

1. They were destroyed but as spiritsthe Nephilim still roam the earth and cause havoc, just not physically as they did before. They're considered spiritual demons now that no longer are able to roam the earth physically but rather torment mentally.

"8. And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. 9. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men , and from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin; they shall be evil spirits on earth, and evil spirits shall they be called. [10. As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.] 11. And the spirits of the giants afflict , oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless hunger and thirst, and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them."

Enoch 15:8-11

2. A few more sites claim that the fathers were actually holy men, and it is for this sin that God decided that men were born sinners. This would make them not holy in any way and furthermore, it would make them human abominations. I added this just in case you were curious about the human aspect of their story.

"And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

Genesis 6:1-5

3. A few more sites also claim that they were MUCH smaller than 450 ft. Some even say they were 25-40ish feet. This seems much more reasonable than the "450 feet" I was saying earlier, especially when the bible is said to sometimes gets symbolic with its numbering (40 nights, 7 daysand 7 nights, etc)

4. Some argue that Goliathwas a Nephilim. This is just a fun fact, but it helps us determine would they would be like. I would say he wasn't because he didn't hit the mentally characteristics right. He is tall though!

5. Here's an actual quote of their destruction. I didn't have any sources before about Gabriel and God discussing their destruction. It did turn out to be Gabriel. This is a quote from the book but also directly from Wikipedia.

"Proceed against the biters and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication: and destroy [the children of fornication and] the children of the Watchers from amongst men [and cause them to go forth] : send them one against the other that they may destroy each other in battle ..."

6. Here's a quote about the destruction of the fathers:

"Go, bind Semjz and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness. 12. And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgement and of their consummation, till the judgement that is for ever and ever is consummated. 13. In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire: (and) to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined for ever. And whosoever shall be condemned and destroyed will from thenceforth be bound together with them to the end of all generations. ..."

Here's the site I'm getting a lot of this information from. If I Google the information and it pops up on other religious sites, I included that information in this post. All my quotes though are from the bibleor the book of Enoch:

_____________________________

In conclusion, I would say that they were:

  1. Brutal, violent creatures. (Maybe natural fighters or cravers of blood and war.)
  2. Incredibly tall, taller at least than ANY man at their shortest.
  3. Born of either fallen angels and women or corrupted holy men and women.
  4. Destroyed if they were the angel variant (unknownabout the corrupted holy men variant).
  5. Possibly returned as spiritual chaos after the flood.

And therefore: They would be INCREDIBLY easy to spot and identify. If one was one, not only would they know, everyone would know.

I personally don't believe it is possible even if they were real becauseof the process that god made to keep them from re-existence. I will also say, I'm not Christian, I was just raised Christian, so I may be off! Please correct me if I'm wrong in any way!

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or would like me to explain something further! I'm more than happy to help!
