I think your grandfather is wrong. With all due respect, nothing can be immortal. I mean, if so, we'd see many people trying to achieve it. As far as I recall, I've never met a person trying to achieve immortality unless they were just role playing. Magick has its limitations, and it can only do so much.

There is no spell that will make you immortal, no matter what your Grandfather might have told you. The human body simply wears out over time as the process of aging and nothing can reverse or stop that process. Only our spirits are immortal. Or we gain our immortality because our children carry on our bloodline into the future.
In our Hindu Mythology there are ways to stop you coming death. There are numbers of holy books that describe everything about human life and things after life. We have vadas and purans this are sacred books that holds every answer of every question. There are people who are still living now which are describe in our mythology, like lord Hanuman, lord Pershuram, there are some other people who live in the places where one normal human can't find them, if they are infront of us, we won't be able to identify them. They live in the other world from which we live.
Living in another realm but not in this physical world is not the same as being immortal in this world. Many mythologies contain stories of humans who were made immortal by the Gods. But no spell that you can do or any technique you personally can try is going to make you immortal here in this physical world.
