Tarot cards?? Self read?
By:
So, I've tried to do readings on myself, but I don't understand the cards. I read the instructions in a book that came with it, but I don't find results. I did the five card thing... Should I try three? (Past, present, future.) Please help me. I really would like to do self readings!

Spend more time learning the cards, and getting familiar with them one at a time. Meditating on each individual card is a good beginning technique, as well as reading up on the history and story behind each card. Meanings are not meant to be set in stone with tarot, and depending on what cards they pop up with, that can also alter their meaning as well...and different cards can mean different things to different people. I'd recommend keeping a tarot journal, and checking out some online resources as well as the book that you have. Gather as much information as you can, learn as much as you can, and apply it in small batches for your self readings. It should get easier with time and practice :) Good luck!

most people would tell you not to do readings on yourself because they will be inaccurate. is the topic something very emotional?

Reads on yourself are hard. The pride and the ego get in the way. Find someone you can swap a read with and it will solve the problem.

Reading for the self is by far more difficult because you tend to see what you want to see. Also, you can't simply do a reading and then flip through your booklet and see what it all means and hope to be accurate. You have to build a relationship with your cards and open up your intuition. To help with this I suggest putting your cards under your pillow once in a while. Also, starting a journal where you record the day of the reading, the question, and what the cards pertaining to the reading mean in their respective positions, will greatly help improve your understanding of what the cards are trying to tell you and how. Added notes: Don't forget to cleanse your cards and leave room in your journal for when the situation materializes so you can record and compare notes with what cards you pulled and what you thought they meant.

I use an oracle gemstone deck. I do a daily 4 card spread on myself. Love, money and spirituality. I use it as a personal tool to plan my day. If i get a bad card i ask god and godess to bless and protect me in the area of...Or else i thank them for the spread and ask them to please continue to bless me. If someone else asks me for a reading i stack the cards in order, shuffle 3 times and cut them to reset. Then i shuffle, cut and do the spread. Afterword i reset the deck again. You can also cleanse your deck by putting it in a dark sack with a charged cleansing stone.
