Hi there all!

I'm new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good starter books on Witchcraft etc. I've been trying to read the Spiral Dance and Drawing down the moon but they are a little heavy. I will eventually get through them I would just like to know if anyone has any others that was special to them.

hello
welcome to the forum, your name caught my eye I wear peridot often.
I looked up your profile and see South Africa. Do not know much about South African herbs etc but most books on magick use western herbs plants that grow in USA UK EU. Besides reading books you might want herbs etc
There are so many books out there one thing you could try is browsing sample pages of lots of different magick books on www.amazon.com/ and www.amazon.co.uk/
I am a practical sort of person so I prefer practical to the point books, a good herbal reference book or several later on.
Cunningham - Incense,Oils & Brews many have this book, good info.
For reading online see www.sacred-texts.com/
and my favorite site www.alchemy-works.com/
on www.witchvox.com you can look up SA for your area
success with the study...

Are you looking for books on traditional witchcraft or are you looking for books on Wicca? Because they aren't the same thing.

If you're looking for resources on Wicca then I would suggest the following:

Here are some books that I would suggest.

''A Witch Alone'' by Marian Green
''The Elements of Ritual'' by Deborah Lipp
''Witchcrafting'' by Phyllis Curott
''21st Century Wicca'' by Jennifer Hunter
''Before You Cast a Spell'' by Carl McColman
''When, Why...If'' by Robin Wood
''Practical Pagan'' by Dana Eilers
''Wicca; A Year and a Day'' by Timothy Roderick

You can also find the recommended reading list that my coven uses at: http://www.tangledmoon.org/reading_list.htm

Here's some websites that you may find useful in helping you with questions.

Hope this helps you get a good start on your studies. And feel free to ask me, or the others here on the board if you have any specific questions we can help you with.

I just feel very overwhelmed and not sure where to start as a solitary. I'm in the southern hemisphere so samhain is coming up here on the first of may, so I thought maybe start there and do a small dedication or something for myself. Any ideas on whether I have to cast a circle and all those things. I've never done that before and it sorta intimidates me a bit lol. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I feel if I do that it has to be spot on perfect so the idea stresses me out a bit, thats why I'm just reading up about all things wicca (I guess) at the moment.
