Aspects of Man
Think of this as a primer. There are many, even among us who want to cast 'spells' or work with energy that don't understand these basic truths.
There are four aspects that make up the whole of our experience which is life. These are the Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual aspects. Each aspect is separate, but intrinsically connected. Each aspect is described in detail below.
Most people are familiar with this aspect. Some are unaware that any other aspect exists, thinking that all of life takes place within this aspect alone. The physical aspect of man is the vessel to the other aspects. Our physical perceptions of sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell all make up the experience which the physical aspect offers us. The physical aspect also consists of our flesh and everything within the body.
This aspect of man is what makes up the emotional self. Emotions exist outside of the physical five senses. They enhance the physical five and senses experienced through the other aspects. Emotions can be felt in localized areas in and around the body. A feeling of joy may circulate through your entire self, but it will also be strongest in one focused central area. Emotions manifest themselves in both the physical and spiritual aspects of man. Physically, we know them to manifest as hormonal and chemical changes in the brain which match the emotion. Spiritually, the emotions manifest as energy which also corresponds to the specific emotion.
The mental aspect of man is perceived as our conscious awareness. The mental aspect is tied to the soul where it originates. The soul is the 'mind', or conscious awareness of the spirit. The mental aspect applies to both this, and the physical mind. All awareness of all things begin with this aspect. However, it does not create the sense-specific senses such as touch or smell. It is our overall awareness. Any thoughts that we have occur within the mental part of ourselves.
The spiritual aspect of man is the most subtle and least felt or recognized by most modern-day people. The spirit aspect consists of a spiritual body which overlaps with the physical body. The spiritual body is made up of of the spiritual energy which makes us up. (just as the physical body consists of flesh) The spiritual self is also the infinite self. We will always be a spirit, though we may not always have a physical body. When you die you lose the physical aspect and exist as a spiritual entity. During life, we may feel the energy of our spirit and the energy surrounding us, but in most people this sense lies dormant. There is also an energy field which surrounds the physical body which is known as an 'aura'. The aura is a part of the spirit body. The spirit is constantly pulsating and contracting in a manner that is similar to the heart beating. The spirit body also contains our 'karma'. This is an energy that reflects what is 'owed' to us based on our positive or negative actions in life. Everything that exists was created from spiritual energy.
