Yeah much of the spells are in general true on Buffy, a bit exagerated of course, it is TV it kind of has to be to keep interest.

But a movie which shows true magick is Practical Magick. I suggest viewing if you have not, that is to all. It is not exagerated much really...

Practical magick is a little bit exaggerated but I like some stuff that they did not forget like the broom by the door... ^_^ and they give some good info in general such as like what symbols are and stuff..

I love that movie also. the only thing that might be exxagerated is the flying off the roof thing. which by the way is my favorite scene. lol. but when she goes into the school classroom and does that thing to that one lady. does she like prick her finger or something? lol. i dk what that is. and is that exaggerated or can u actually do that?

To clear up some things, Psionics is NOT magick. It is psychic ability that is present in every human, due to the connections between us and the divine.

I go by Crowley's definition of magic as "the art and science of causing change to occur in conformity to Will" ... so sounds like that pretty much includes psionics -- I prefer magical/psychic abilities to rote-ritual, anyway...

Buffy used to be my favorite fandom! But I'm finding it hard to research... :-P And I've got to watch that movie again. Sorry, not familiar at all with the Reapering stuff.

The movie the reaping...is base on the ten plagues..that the bible mention... O_O Yeah it has bible context in it but I believe involves magick as well... *_* and has a satanic cult...the original version of satan and god sort of thing....where humans and angels are involve...*_* visions and even astral projection is imply in the movie.. ^_^ it is a good movie, but yet predictable but for those who practice magick or are into the bible is a another view of religions.

Buffy/Angel

Social Caution*** It's not on the level of Harry Potter, and while there are a few that think it is one of the more realistic portrayals of magick in hollywood, those same people still think it falls so far down in its semblance of real magick that Potter beats it for no other reason than Harry Potter is a pedophile's wet dream.

Sourced= Barely researched at all. A little mythology, creatures made up to represent current themes and emotions of the characters. Some are flat out contraditions, like magick and healing. The closest for demons incaranting in real life is otherkin. Real magick is not that easy or flashy on the material plane.

Fakery= Basically everything.

Inspired= N/A. The method of magick protrayal is only superficially similar.

Thanks muchly for filling in, Ash : )
I've been trying to work something in about the attraction to epic wars and absolute Good/Evil in entertainment. I mean, Whedon's a genius and I loves him but I don't think he does ambiguity well.

Supernatural
Social Caution ?? Hasn't occurred often enough to gauge...
Sourced It's very episodic, so official guides should have more tidbits on how they conceive the monsters of the week. But, the Winchester brothers seem to favor:

Silver Bullets (or was it the gun that was special?) anyway, silver is preeetty... so it's been considered a pure, near-holy metal, and in some tales it's the only way to kill a supernatural enemy. Source of the expression, "silver bullet solution."

Salt, as a preservative and disinfectant substance, also had magic powers attributed to it. Unfriendly spirits were said to be unable to enter a circle drawn with pure salt.

The Key of Solomon, "This here's the real thing," they pronounce, of one of the most famous grimoires of ritual magic. It does exist, you can find scans online:
http://sacred-texts.com/grim/kos/index.htm
and judge for yourself how well it ought to work.

Fakery I would think if you salted and burned the bones of that once belonged to a now-angry ghost, it might only get angrier. Also unsure of the use of firearms against most entities.

Inspired ?
