the best way to make a spell work is to write it yourself i like some of the discussions on this site but I recognized a lot of the TV spells and that made me sad. I want a site that focuses, on some of the old spells the ones that were originally done in Gaelic this new age stuff never works. I want real magick not made up garbage, I want to know the old magick that really worked when you did it like back in my ancestors days.

I agree with you, eponas. However, I probably won't be able to make my own spells yet until I'm more confident. I can't wait till I do though!

I am a 7th generation blood witch in my coven I am the crone, and A 17th degree high priestess which is the numbering system, my coven uses to identify how many years you have been practicing, I have been practicing my whole life. and I will always prefer the old spells to the new age junk. I also get upset at all the misconceptions there are out there about real magick. like people wanting to be vampires, sorcerers, and warlocks, people who call themselves pagans and have no understanding of the meaning of the word. and all the other new age concepts that have nothing to do with real magick.

"I want a site that focuses, on some of the old spells the ones that were originally done in Gaelic this new age stuff never works. " ~ Eponaswolf33

Are going under the misconception that all spells originated from Ireland or the Welsh? Or are we discussing a specific tradition that only seemed to have existed in one's mind? I think a complete world history lesson into all the cultures that practiced a form of Paganism or witchcraft should be in order.

Nimble this site houses 150,000+ members at any given point in time. Spells are added by its members who ranged subjectively in age from 13 - 79 yrs. Many younger people and even adults don't know enough starting out to discern between what they see in movies and on tv versus reality. Paganism as a whole has been ran down and snubbed out by society so much that most really have no clue about its origins or what it truly entails. So we end up with a wide variety of spells, things that make you laugh, and even things that make you go "hmmmm...".

The spells on this site are not a reflection of its owners or operators, but rather some of its members. Spells are rated by how they are grammatically written, and whether they follow the set format. Then they are rated again by its users, for reasons that I am sure make no sense for many of us. It is up to the person reading the spell to use common sense and good sound judgement to decide whether the spell is "suspect" or might actually work.

Though bare in mind many well experienced practitioners do write their own spells for the purpose they have currently for needing a spell. And they often put those spells in a personal BOS, and rarely share them with the world. Although it is becoming more and more popular that upon a witch's death, that their BOS's either get passed on to their offspring or sold off to publishing companies. Whereas in the old days the BOS would have been burned or buried with the witch.

I have to agree with NimbleAsian,I do find the majority of these spells shown on the site,as a Bit far fetched and on the Realms of fantasy mermaids vampires etc etc...as some people have said about creating your own spells are the best

eponaswolf33: So far, the things I am practicing is meditation and the ones I'm learning about are my moon phases, crystals, herbs, and the meanings of colors. I have copied and pasted spells on here from my word document but not yet use them; when I start to, I want to begin by controlling my elements and and learning how to consecrate stones. I really want to start slow and small and eventually work with a spell that will help me and others out in the long run. Right now, all I'm doing is reading, but unfortunately I have no teacher... At the moment I have joined a group on yahoo from the coven that I am because I heard that they give classes on certain days. I only signed up a couple of days ago, so I'm waiting on the approval to be accepted.

Cookie_Mnstr: I don't think she means it that way that you said it about all spells are originated from those areas. From my understandings, what she feels more powerful when it comes to spells is those that have originated from those places, and spells from the Gaelic form is one of the old ways she is more comfortable with compared to the new age crap that people nowadays put on this site. The ages of people that post spells on here are normally the ages of 15-20, so I understand the frustration.

The best I can really do now I know is to write my own spells. However, I do need to learn how to cast spells first. I'm not quite there yet.

I find this thread quite amazing! Have these people no idea of what a spell is? Most people have cast spells without even knowing it. Ever blown out the candles on a cake and made a wish? You have cast a spell. Ever pulled a wishbone? That's another spell.
How about throwing salt over your shoulder for good luck? Another spell. A Catholic will light a candle, and then make a wish; or prayer. He/she has cast a spell, they just don't know it.
A spell is a ritual wish, very like a prayer. The difference being that a prayer is asking for help from a higher power, Deity. A spell is a do-it-yourself operation. And that takes a lot of learning, a lot of knowledge, and a lot of energy.
So beware of television spells! They are usually nonsense.
