The fae (fairies) have been around longer then us humans, according to some beliefs. The Celts knew them as the "Tuatha De Dannon" . They were believed to be the children of a goddess Danu. They ruled Ireland from the 1890's-1700 B.C. During some war they were forced out of their control over Ireland and became known as the fae, fair-folk or sidhe. Many people native to ireland will still leave out food or milk for them as offerings, and ask for permission before building a home or doing anything else that may disturb their habitats. Some people can see them here on this plane and others only claim them to be on the astral realm.

Every culuture seems to have different views on "fairies". The oldest beliefs I have come across so far are based in Celtic mythology.

Did you seriously just say that on a magic site grg?

For one, all religion is belief based and cannot be proven. The occult is the study of the paranormal (myths, legends, things that go bump in the night, "magic" etc.). How can you even be on a site such as this and say you will not believe anything until science proves it?? XD

Religion for me is all about faith. If you believe in spirits you could say there is no proof :S I respect your opinion but I dont understand.

I believe in fae, they are nature spirits. The little ones most commonly depicted are the "little people" and can be found in nearly every culture worldwide. Even Native Americans believe in them and have many legends surrounding them, although they are famous for the Celtic stories. I've seen them and experienced their mischief myself. They're not like Tinkerbell. As with everything, media and art takes an idea and runs with it.

I would really like to discuss this further with someone to just help me understand it. If anyone has information can you please email me?

lol wow Brittany95H why did you drag up such an old post instead of starting your own? faeries are not physical beings, they're more like spirits. people don't often see them, mostly because they shy away from area's without greener. if you have a big lush garden though you run a greater chance. there's different types and each specializes in different things. [like elements or crystals] i'm no expert on faeries, but i have seen one.

http://www.moonsmuses.com/fae.html
http://www.hafapea.com/thelandoffaepages/faemagic.html

just a couple sites that might help. as i said i don't work with fae so i don't know how accurate the information is.

Fairies are said to be nature spirits (well, some) but they are very much real. You can learn to see them as well.
