True story: Believe it or not. I don't really care.

I was about 11 years old when this happened. My aunts (father's two sisters) were visiting our family and my parents decided to take a drive to visit the Grand Coulee Dam. I was a bit bored by the tour, I already knew all the history (I read a bunch as a kid), so I was staring off at the hills when I saw what looked like a very large hairy man crouching beside/behind a clump of earth and staring at us from across the water. I stared at it for a long time, it didn't seem to move...but it's head turned to follow us as we walked around with the tour group. I was only a child, it LOOKED like bigfoot to me...but I did not want the adults to laugh at me so I stayed quiet about it.

Eventually my aunt Judy noticed that I was staring at the hill for a very long time. I still didn't really believe it, and was looking for any evidence that it was something other than what it looked like. Judy asked me what I was staring at. I didn't want to lie to her, so I told her I saw something weird on the hill. She (always the inquisitive type) said "Weird like what?" I looked over, paranoid, and asked her to promise not to laugh at me. She looked very serious and swore she wouldn't. I told her it looked like a sasquatch to me, but that it was so far away I couldn't tell. She didn't laugh, but got very quiet and really excited...she asked me to point to where it was so she could see it too. At this point my whole family noticed the two of us because the tour had moved off and we were still staring at the hill. She had brought a camera and was getting as many pictures as she could (mind you, this was the mid 90s and cameras were not what they are today). None of my other family members could see what we saw, but Judy and I were able to get several pictures of it before we had to move on or lose track of the tour.

I don't know what it was. I can't say for sure. I do know that when we went back to see if it was still there later, we could not find it. I looked back over the whole area, found the distinctive clump of earth, but the thing was gone. It could have been a man in a bigfoot costume... or it could have been a genuine sasquatch. From what I could see (like I said, it was far away), it didn't have the right kind of face and was WAY too big to be a man... but again, distance can play tricks on the eyes. The pictures my aunt got were similar to the typical bigfoot photos you see all over the place, kind of grainy and difficult to see. I wish I'd had a digital camera with a good zoom on it, but this was before they were available. We chose to believe it was a sasquatch, just because it's a fun story and who knows, right?

If it was a sasquatch, my guess is that they are just a species of north-american ape that is very rare, shy and intelligent. It looked like an orangutan, only it was more upright, larger and more red-brown than orange. It was almost perfectly camouflaged in the environment. Very hard to photograph.

Kindly don't call me a fluffy, if you don't believe it was sasquatch that's fine, I won't be offended, however the story is 100% true. I hope you enjoyed it.
