Most people who claim they are "vampires" are individuals striving for attention. However psychic vampirism is a very real thing and I've had the displeasure of meeting them in real life. I've also argued with quite a few online who claim that "there is no harm in taking a sip or two". Urgh...

Otherkin is a word for inhuman beings incarnated into human bodies. Astrally you find all sorts of people, and not all of them look like our image of human. So I am a firm believer in otherkin.

Since the beginning of civilization (known) there has been the belief of blood drinking creatures or blood drinking "demons". And to claim this is utterly ridiculous is a little extreme seeing that there are such things as vampire bats, mesquitoes, blood flies, as well as various other carnivorous animals that drink blood. Not to mention the existence of cannibalism.

The hysteria over vampires rose due to the lack of medical knowledge and improper declaration of a "dead" individual who was actually in a coma or something of the sort. They were buried alive and when they woke up, they were thought to be zombies or vampires and brutally killed....those poor people. Or in most cases, they were trapped in a coffin and attempted to claw their way out before eventually running out of air. But people would dig them up and stab a stake through their hearts to bind them to their coffins because of ignorance.

So to totally deny the possibility of a physical human body containing the spirit of a blood desiring being is in my opinion close minded. However the existence of vampires all fangs, dracula, capes, and coffins is nothing but fiction running away with an idea. You don't believe Puff the Magic Dragon but magick is real.

But again, I must repeat that most who claims such things publicly are merely attempting to gain attention. And they definitely do not have super human powers. They are still human bound.

You will most likely never find one apprentice. Only pretenders.

The blood sucking vampires are a work of fiction. However there are those that 'feed' off of other's energy without permission. You can do a simple protection ritual on yourself to protect against that.

To my experience "otherkin" is more in the eye of the beholder, and how the individual projects themselves. The energy of such a person and any other human is fundamentally the same, and is only shaped by experiences, personality traits, how they practice (if they practice), how we perceive them, etc.

You could say that this makes them otherkin, but then if you did so you would also have to say that anyone with superficial physical differences were also inhuman in some way. I imagine you would consider them to still be of the same species, so then those who appear differently in the astral are also of the same species.

There are certain a wide range of spirits, but those attached to human flesh are... well, human... until they become disembodied in death. Whether they are then again reborn or change into something else, that's a different matter. Those who feel as though they are otherkin often associate their own personality traits, or those that they wish to possess, with some supernatural entity. This says more psychologically than it does about anything spiritual. Indeed, most "otherkin" describe their supernatual aspect with characteristics born of modern fantasy, and having very little to do with the way many of these spirits were first perceived. This includes, in my opinion, those who base their "otherkin" perception of themselves on the demonic or angelic, wherein you'll find most documentation is rooted within political aims of the medieval authors of various works of demonology than anything else.

As far as where this starts blending in with psy vampires and "sanguine vampires," you'll again find a lot more projected psychological problems than actual metaphysical circumstance. Many people wish to be a vampire of some sort, simply because they wish to be different, or more than human. Modern literature has romanticized the concept of a vampire through Dracula, Anne Rice's novels, and more recent literature focused on love-sick teens. This only makes it more appealing, with the concept of the forbidden blending with a sort of sultry, sensual elegance that vampires are described as possessing... A far cry from the silent film Nosferatu, which portrayed vampires much as they were conceived for most of history.

Even within the world of Psy vampires, I have encountered few who truly need to be a psy vampire. More frequently it is a projection of a psychological need. An individual does not feel healthy, in balance, or otherwise well unless they are exerting power over another in the form of feeding. In other cases, it was an actual unbalance that resulted in the need to feed that could be corrected. Many simply find comfort within the lifestyle that develops and do not leave it. In much more rare circumstances, I have heard reports of people who truly need energies from others to maintain themselves.

Sanguine vampires, or those who drink blood, are generally people who have convinced themselves that they need to drink blood. There have been medical studies that show no illness or damage if they refrain from drinking it at length. Further, there has been no tangible evidence of any such individual actually possessing any variety of claimed deficiency that is improved by the drinking of blood. In many cases they blame a variety of illnesses that have no actual side effect causing the need to drink blood. So why then they do it? Psychological disorders, for the most part, or a desire to be part of the whole vampire lifestyle that has developed as a quiet subculture that fascinates and intrigues.

The old legends someone else referred to portray vampires as cruel, cold, and inhuman entities that care nothing for human concerns beyond how it might sate their hunger or inhumane aims. Should we assume that vampires have then somehow evolved beyond their ghostly, demonic, or otherwise monstrous legends? Seems unlikely in the history of man.

I totally agree with you awakened. Very thorough.

The only thing I would add is that psy vamps also can do it for the "rush". It becomes an addiction. And after a while they do end up feeling as though they need it. Since they're so used to being at 120% when they hit 100% they don't feel right anymore and feed yet again to bring themselves back up. It can become a lot like a drug.

There is a know medical disease called "vamperism" it means an individual who believe either they are real vampires and have to survive on blood, or, the more common one, people who believe there blood is being stolen and they have to have a new source, usually animal blood.

Vampires were thought to exist when people dug up graves to find nails and hair had still grown, this lead to believe the people where still alive.

Psychic vampires i believe are real.

The twilight vampire type is not real but Vampirism is. Original it was a disease involving the hemoglobin in your blood or something that made your skin pale and gave you extended kanine teeth and sensativity to light, But the Wiccan term is for someone who leeches of your energy or aura feilds. Some people don't even know they are doing it.....But the blood drinking children of the night don't exist like you see on tv.
