Totally New, and help?

Merry Meet all!

I'd just like to thank you for reading my post :P.

Anyway, i've started wicca as my religion on February 9, 2009.
I am currently totally into this religion and it's craft. Me, my friend, and my cousin have made a coven... Currently we are working on crafting a wand, getting a chalice, and dagger to represent the lord's sword, a penticle... and the other essentials :D. After browsing through this site a little, am i on the wrong site? Do we all not pray to the lord and the lady? or am i missing something? Anyway, if you know any site that may be helpful for my newbie mind. Mail me please. :D

-Merry Meet and Merry Part,
Warms even the darkest witches heart.

Hello and welcome!
It sounds like you are well on your way down a path that is interesting and meaningful to you. I wish you all the best.

To answer your question about worshiping the Lord and Lady:
Worship of a God and Goddess (or the Horned God and the Triple Goddess) is part of the Neo-Pagan religion to which Wicca is a part as well as religious Witchcraft. Think of Neo-Paganism as a big umbrella - under that umbrella are many of the other Earth-based religions, Wicca included.

In many of these Neo-Pagan religions, magic is practiced. It can be a religious or spiritual ritual expression as well as a practical way to get things done. Therefore magic and spellcraft both exist harmoniously in these traditions (as well as other magico-religious traditions such as Vodoun, Santeria, Candomble, Taoism, Hinduism, etc.).

Different countries, different cultures, different tribes, and different religions all have their own distinct magical traidtions. There are also plenty of magical traditions which are non-denominational. Also, most folk magic is within the religious context of the culture. For example American hoodoo is generally practiced by Christians, Baptists and other protestants.

Actually, most of the world's magic practitioners are not Neo-Pagan. Neo-Pagan magics are but a drop in the bucket compared to all the magic practiced around the globe. It is a common misconception that all modern magic is Wiccan or Witchcraft-type magic. This is not so, and actually, those types are actually in the minority. Wicca is just what sells books and what is promenient in popular culture.

So, to answer our question, this is a site devoted to magic. You will find people here of all faiths: Wiccan, Witches, Satanists, Christians, Neo-Pagans, Catholics, Atheists, Agnostics, and the like. What we all have in common is we practice magic, and you can browse around and see we're a very assorted lot.

Worship of the Lord and Lady is a Pagan religious practice. You will find many people who do worship the Divine in that form, but you will find just as many who don't. It's magic which is the common thread.

I hope this answers your question and isn't too confusing.

Welcome.

As LdyGry has already said, this site is dedicated to magick in general. Not just a set religious aspect. We all practice some form of magick, or kenisis here. I'm sure you will find many people willing to help you on your path.

Though one suggestion would be to...not declare yourself a coven. A coven USUALLY has a leader who is mastered or atleast somewhat knowledgable in the arts. Not a couple of people who thought it would be really cool. No offense, but declaring yourself to be part of a Wiccan coven is going to irk some people who truly are.

I believe one of the rules of Wicca is to practice a year and a day before initiation into the arts or even a coven. ( correct me if I'm wrong..I thought that's what it was ).
